Why is it that Channel 4, with its dramatically smaller budget than ITV can prduce a website many many times better than ITVs 'effort'? Surely ITV being the largest commercial broadcaster should have the funds to produce a really good site to rival that of the BBC, with programme support, message boards, a full news section etc. Is it a case that it would be too expensive, and there is no market for them to do this, or can they just not be bothered?
With Channel 4s website having a huge content, with just about every programme shown having its own sub section or a mention on the site, and the communtity section offering web chats etc with stars, surely this embarasses ITV and puts ITV.com into the shade?

Channel 4 and the BBC are public service broadcasters, where as ITV is commercial, which means they dont have to provide a website, and if they do, they will make it cost efficient.

Channel 4 launched their website a long time before ITV did - they've had more time to develop their internet strategy. ITV came to the net very late in the day compared with Channel 4, five and the BBC.

Also remember that before ITV.com was launched all the seperate bits and owners of ITV were doing their own websites.
