Channel's ident variation certainly is nice, I'm sure it would be simple enough for something similar to be added to the beginning of the titles for the ITV plc regional news programmes, rather than have a specific network announcement for each region. Or is that simple solution beyond the wit of the ITV Network Centre?
Also, I appreciate that they have changed the ident to "local views", but is this the first time that Channel have taken the full ITV plc logo? I thought before they always used the same style/music, but slapped "Channel" on it rather than ITV1.
They now look like an ITV plc region (is there something we don't know about here?)

No, they are still independently owned, but realise the benefit of having a strong brand like "ITV 1" meaning they can put all their (limited) budget into programme making instead of designing idents and creating trails.
Just because something is "ITV 1" branded doesn't mean it can't be locally focussed and programmes like Channel Report, Report Sport and Puffins Pla(i)ce are well known brands in the Islands.

I watched today, and they continue with Puffin's Pla(i)ce after the local news until the start of the Jeremy Kyle Show at 1:30 without returning to ITV News for the final headlines at 1:24.

Another question...
How do Channel deal with Puffin's Pla(i)ce now it follows on from the local news at c.1310?
