That's where their programmes are made though...
ITN use them as well - is there anything not for ITV made there?

Actually, they do. Blaze is owned by Granada, and SMTV uses (or at least used to use) London Television Studios. Which GMTV also use, incidentally.
LWT doesn't make SMTV, otherwise it wouldn't have a Blaze endcap! LWT and Blaze are separate even though they have the same parent company.
As Andrew pointed out, that's like saying Meridian makes Coronation Street.
Also, the studios are owned by Granada, not LWT.

How does ITN use them? I wouldn't be surprised if they have used them, but for what?
Other channels' programmes made at TLS include:
Have I Got News For You
Room 101
So Graham Norton

Isn't Graham Norton the only one not made by an ITV company though - most of those are made by Granada!

When SM:tv first came on in 1998, I think it was something like An LWT Presentation for IT=, the endcap obviously. But when people made the complaint about CD:UK last year it had something to do with LWT, or that LWT made a comment about it.

That's not the reason why they comply so many programmes. They do it thorugh choice because it earns them money, in fact they have quite a business in compliance and it makes up a substantial part of their profits.
Around the time of the Comedy Awards upheld complaint. (Which Channel were liable for) there was an article about why this was and their flourishing compliance business. Can't find it anywhere though (might have been a Nick Higham piece in Ariel

When a programme is made by an independent production company, such as Shed Productions, one of the ITV companies has to be responsible for it, and check that it is compliant with the rules. Channel tends to have responsibility for many productions on ITV because it makes very few of its own.

Granada acquired them by buying LWT in 1994 - so LWT do own them!
There's a point - will Blaze survive with SMTV axed? Their last remaining show now is CDUK! (Slap Bang and Brian's Boyfriends have both been axed)

No they don't. The London Studios were divested into a separate company in 1993, before Granada bought LWT. This meant that The London Studios were a
division
of LWT but was not LWT - the production company. To avoid confusion, LWT - the production company was re-listed as "LWT Productions Limited" - or LWTP for short - hence the silver Hallmark endcap that was seen from 1993-1996.
On top of all this, LWT's transmission facilities had also already been divested into LNN - London News Network, also jointly owned with Carlton. This ensured a single continuity and news centre could operate for both weekday and weekend frachisees.
When Granada bought LWT, they bought LWTP, The London Studios and LWT's stake in LNN. So they own three companies which used just to be parts of London Weekend Television (either as a company or at the site) as a whole. So whilst you're not completely wrong historically, there's now no legal link to ensure that what one does, another must be involved in.

That's because until the 1989 identity was retired, each imported/independent programme had to carry an on screen association as being made 'for' an ITV company. That's why LWT's name appeared here, it was never made by them.
Even when the LWTP name was in use, because that was separate from the LWT station, every LWT programme came with two endcaps - one to say that it was made by LWT Productions and another to say that it was an LWT presentation for ITV.
