Would that not be offset by not having to provide a playout suite in their new building? I'm struggling to see why they are not just like any other ITV plc region these days.

I can't work out why it would be either. My understanding is that it is just like any other ITV region - it's played out from Chiswick.

It might be now, but it certainly wasn't, and I'm sure it still wasn't even after ITV Ltd took control, but it might be now (I agree, it makes perfect technical sence to centralise at Chiswick) ,

Hmmmm, I have a feeling it moved to 'the mainland' before ITV took over the company, though I've no idea what makes me think that. I'd have thought it would have happened for DSO, which was the year before the takeover

If it is played out from Chiswick, it would surely be from an HD equipped pres suite, and woudn't there be ITV HD available on PSB 3 there (which there still isn't, not even the 'wrong' region) ?

We've got an extremely limited selection of DTT channels because of France's proximity (we can pick up some of theirs sometimes). We don't even get Dave, but we do - apparently - get Sewing Quarter Shocked

Channel was originally going to be the last region to go digital because of those problems, but it got brought forward at some point.

Well, you're a Freeview Lite area (like the other 9% population of the UK served by 1080 or so relays), However, you (and the other 9%) do have PSB 3 (aka the main HD mux) but there's no ITV HD on it still in the CIs ?) The absence of ITV HD on the mux there, has nothing (for once) to do with the French

I expect the lack of an alternative ITV HD (i.e. a neighbouring region) is probably more to do with advertising.

They probably don't want anything to harm Channel's advertising revenues, which are probably fairly low in comparison to other regions.

Quite likely. There's no 111 ITV HD on Freesat if you put in a Jersey postcode (I think it's just London for everyone, isn't it?) and of course no "Click OK to watch in HD" banner.

And which is famously why Channel had an office in London offering to do everyone else's compliance, because any fines were scaled to the compliancer(?)'s income. Came in handy with the phone voting scandal, as I recall.

If you ever have a problem with reception, I believe you can watch Sewing Quarter online Very Happy Very Happy

Which is probably why the company name is still Channel Television Ltd, rather than ITV Broadcasting Ltd like most of the other ITV plc regions.

It's probably more to do with the financial realities (including tax obligations or lack thereof, of course...) of operating a business in the Channel Islands. I think the regional compliance system thing was ditched a while back, wasn't it?

They don't get ITV+1 either, which I believe at one time was used for ITV3 and now for ITV4.

I'm guessing there's no commercial benefit to doing an HD version of Channel either.

Do Sky viewers also lose ITV HD if the card is mapped To a CI postcode? I know it defaults 103 to HD if you're In a region that puts out HD (London, CEN West and GRA?)

I'd say definitely it's an advertising thing.
