Whole other thread but in those times did reporters at the game have to find a phone and ring through the result?

I wonder if the Post did a Saturday "green/pink-un". If they did, the lack of World of Sports's results round up may well have helped their circulation.....

Surely anyone on the islands who was desperate for the football results could have just got the UK classified results from Radio 2 or BBC1?

Yes, Grandstand was the perfect place for all results in 1979, with Final Score around 4.40pm each Saturday where the results would have been given. First football results service would air from just after 4.30pm on BBC Radio 2's "Sport on 2".

You beat me to it. My memory of the 70s was that the footie results were consumed mostly by Pools players. Were CI residents able to play the Pools?

Did CTV run their own teletext service considering that Oracle was out of action?

Considering they didn't have any video equipment and had only gone colour 3 years earlier, I doubt they had teletext equipment either!

Did Oracle go blank then or just get stuck with the same news for 3 months?

The Channel Islands received a dirty feed from Stockland Hill, complete with whatever was in the VBI, so presumably they got Oracle on the same day that it went active in the south west ITV region.

When did CTV start creating their own local teletext pages?

According to Wikipedia (again pinch of salt required)
A local service for the Oracle teletext service began in 1981, delivering local news and information.

I don't know what that page from 1979 was then, unless they were broadcast from Westward for Channel's benefit, or they got the year wrong (would have to be either 1984 or 90 for the 25th July to fall on a Wednesday), though the graphics are clearly based on the pre-1980 logo.
