I thought Grampian was the first to adopt ENG? Their large geographic size meant it was the obvious station to use it first

Yes ir was Grampian:

Is that the correct link?

Well, I’m still fairly sure Channel were first, it’s in an IBA year book possibly. TV Ark are definitely not correct about TVS adopting ENG from their day 1, it was still 100% film for some months, possibly longer

How did Channel TV manage with the Saturday sports results? Obviously no ITN, no World of Sport, so no results service. Did Channel do their own classified results, albeit with no reports from grounds?

Actually more interesting is how has Channel covered sport generally. I'm guessing it can be truly local there - I know both Jersey and Guernsey have cricket teams and reading up a bit there seems to be a history of annual local games in cricket and football at least, and of course they compete as nations in the Commonwealth Games. Has Channel ever shown live coverage of matches between the two biggest islands in any sport, and during the times when the regions would show live football matches featuring their club regions did Channel just opt out or did they show teams from the South/South West regions?

Well the strike was through the summer so there probably wasn't much in the way of football. I daresay they had a perfunctory level of coverage

As I Understand it Channel Report would be on for 15 minutes and then they would have a sports bulletin.

Reminds me of something from Greg Dyke's book "Inside Story". He told a story while he was at LWT about how to bypass union issues they were going to broadcast from Holland.

More about that here: https://www.tvcream.co.uk/its-saturday-night/78-you-wanna-bet-on-it/

I suspect it was to have been from Hilversum, which is the broadcasting capital of The Netherlands, and where all the facilities houses are, and have been for years (and take a look at any vintage radio dial from the 1940s onwards too). I think only a couple of local cable channels (AT5 ?) and Virgin Media (nee Chelo Media) are in Amsterdam, back in the 80s nothing I suspect ? Having worked many times on the Hilversum campus, being able to speak Dutch really isn't required. Oh, and Holland does not equal The Netherlands Mad

Yes - Coast to Coast were definitely still shooting on film in 1983 / 1984.
