Channel News Changes

Well guys I have just recevied the below e-mail from Channel Television confirming that things are changing on the news front sounds interesting so watch tonight at 6 and Monday at 6 for the full changes.

'Thanks for your e-mail about our programmes. We have taken an opportunity over the Christmas breakto improve our main Studio A set and repaint the background.

Some of these changes will be seen from tonight but the majority of improvements won't be on air until Monday when we are upgrading Channel Report.

I hope the temporary change hasn't spoiled your viewing of Channel programmes but promise normal service will be resumed asap!

Due to being at work each evening I don't often get to see Channel Report. However, when I do get a chance, the 600 programme is spoilt for me by the awful presentation of the local weather.
Hopefully the relaunched Channel Report will improve things!

Also just noticed on the lunchtime bullitin that the titles still say Channel News 2001 so roll on Monday !.

Sorry for going OT but have there been any other signs of Channel changing from 'Channel ITV' to 'Channel ITV1'?

Well the answer to both questions.

The year thing was introduced in 2000 when the current look was launched on 02.01.2000. So I am thinking that what ever they are going to do on Monday will not mention the year 2002 as they would have included now or which is more likely they are going to have new opening titles.

ITV1 well at 09.25 start up Channel used the generic hearts idents with the welders and the end was just ITV

It sounds like things are changing on Monday so I will keep my eyes peeled.

Hmmm, one thing I notice in that picture is the omission of 'itv.com'.. Is there a geniune reason for this? Channel is mentioned on itv.com.

Or was that capture taken before the logo appeared onscreen?

No ITV.COM is not mentioned on any ident only programme promotion as evrything is ITV 1.

Channel do have their web site www.channeltv.co.uk but only on their own ident not the generic ITV ident.

Hmmm, I haven't seen the Channel website on the ident either....

To be honest I can't see Channel changing to ITV1, unless they take some generic ITV1 ident on. The Monday 7th date does seem to fit in with all those GMG rumours though...

Anyway, it isn't just Channel who respond to emails you know. Tyne Tees always respond to emails, and are always very friendly about it, even if they get a bit annoyed with you (as they did with me a couple of years ago when I got on Ben Stanger's t*its a bit...)

Well it's offical. At the end of Channel Report tonight, Simon (main presenter) ended with 'Thats all from Channel Report for tonight and for this week. Be sure to join us Monday for all the lasted news and sport and we will be sporty and brand new look so until Monday, goodnight'

So can't wait till Monday as I think the whole of Channel will be getting a new look maybe even new idents......ITV 1 !

Monday morning and some of the changes are showing. The opening titles are still old but the studio background has changed and the captions have changed colour and design. The bestest changed so far and needed was the weather graphics look at lot better but we will have to wait until Channel Report at 6 for the full new look.

Channel Television first with news that matters in the Channel Islands

Channel Report has now been and gone. Their was no dramatic change although it did look very good.

The studio background is now yellow and orange and all the on screen graphics are red/orange. They have added a wood panelled large presetation screen beside the news desk which they used tonight and it looks good. The Channel Report TV in between the presenters now features an animated graphic moving all the time.

The weather graphics have changed and don't look like a 5 year old drew them they look almost like ITV national.

No ident change but I will be keeping an eye out all through the evening.
