Channel - New Owner

Does anyone know anything about the company that has recently taken control of Channel Television. The company is calle d Illiffe News & Media.

A couple of things are happening at Channel they haven't been using the normal news studio for sometime now no television in the background, well yesterday they were no graphics at all and it looked like the lady was sitting in a broom cupboard with unusal coloured yellow background not seen before.

It's just that with all this talk of a single ITV 1 ident and the change of owner and not using the normal sets makes me think things are going to change here.

Can't find anything anywhere about Illiffe, Dave.

Mind you, the good news is that that also means I can't find a link from Illiffe to Carlton, GMG or SMG.

The main directors of the old Channel holding company were all ex-HTV weren't they? Probably good that there's now somebody else in charge, as that old lot had a history of selling companies to people like United, or GMG, or Carlton!

As regards studios, I reckon they're just throwing a new-year lick of paint round, so putting them out of use, one at a time. They've done Mr O Puffin's studio, the rest to follow.

Well Nick I noted the name down wrong it's Iliffe. I did find some bits of the FT website and it seems the company has some media interest but no connection to Carlton or Granada has far as I can find and thats what I was worried about.

They are otherwise known as Yattendon Investment Trust and own a selection of regional newspapers and a couple of RSLs to broadcast local TV.

I've definitely heard of that name - I'm sure it pops up underneath the names of some production companies. I'll do a bit of research...

No background graphics on the news?

Heh. IVC return perhaps? I can dream can't I.....

Da does sound like a gud idea. You need to see the announcers on TV in Cuba, you would see just how far they go with lack of clothes
