Which channel is due new idents next ?

I feel the need for some more new idents, I know we've had UKTV and the Sky News rumours, but which channel is next due for a makeover. Will it be BBC One ? Perhaps the GMG Stations on ITV will get new idents ? Or maybe the Granada Digital Channels, +Plus desperately needs an overhaul. Any thoughts ?

I think Granada Plus looks fine!

I do, however, believe that Granada's ITV stations are very close to new idents and all that. In fact, I've begun to check everyday because they have a habit of springing them upon us all of a sudden.

Incidentally, whenever Granada have relaunched or introduced Christmas idents in the last few years (excluding the generic ITV ones), they have always done so on a Friday night at 7.30pm. Anyone know why?

Remember that Tyne Tees have only just got a brand new ident, which people think is their best in years.

Also, YTV's is not that old, its only Granada themselves without a local ident.

GMG seem to be playing the ITV card lately, So I expect they will go along with whatever ITV decide, The first Monday at 925am in September, seems to be the date that if anything changes, it will change then.

Yes but those regional idents for Tyne Tees & Yorkshire are only used before regional programming, and rarely seen. I'm thinking that due to Granada's recent acquisitions (Meridian, Anglia etc.) that we may see new network idents for the GMG stations (similar to Carlton ident set). The regional idents could remain the same as before. My hopes of this were increased recently when GMG introduced a new style heart ident (which I have only ever seen a couple of times on YTV) used during a continuity announcement.

They are using the new hearts junction more often on Granada now, I last saw it after Emmerdale on Friday, and it does look pretty d*amn ed nice.

Cheers Square Eyes, you've just said what I was going to reply with. The very nice regional idents will probably remain, with ones for Granada, Meridian and Anglia (if they don't have them already, because I don't know!) introduced soon along with new hearts for all GMG regions. Hopefully, they will be similar to Carlton's, as you said, but Granada have never been ones to go mad with idents (except for about two years before the generic idents, when we had about fifty different ones!).

Back to the original topic, I think that MTV, ITN and Challenge TV will have new presentation soon.

MTV - because it is getting a bit dull now, I mean, what boring animations! An elephant spinning round- what's that all about?

ITN - to allow itself to compete with other news channels as it is not doing brilliantly in the ratings (I still love it though!)

Challenge TV - well, just look at it! Pants!

CNN International despritly needs an urgent makeover. Their idents are dull and boring.

They should change the look of their newsroom to that like the domestic version.
