Channel Four pulls out of QuizCall

I've not got access to the full article, but another forum reports that it states QuizCall will continue, but Channel Four will be using its Freeview slot for a new channel.

Surely has to be good news - even if it's just a return of More4+1.

I can't say I'll be sad to see the loss of Quiz Call. With the recent bad publicity for Quiz Call and quiz channels in general it's not too much of a suprise Channel 4 are pulling out.

No it seems like these so-called Quiz-Telly programmes don't know what they are upto. It has happend a lot with these types of games - it's happened on ITV Play's This Morning Puzzlebook and also on QuizCall recently.

They're just a complete total and utter waste of a channel - even moreso than shopping channels! Is there ANYBODY in the country who would rather they were there rather than programmes? Even if it's just repeats. Ofcom should outlaw them.

HAHAHA yes death to all quiz channels. I'm pretty pleased to see the end of QuizCall. Hopefully ITV Play and SmileTV will join it.

This is great news! Well-done channel 4!!! as long as Quiz call does not start to appear during the night on any C4 digital channel!!!


I hope ITV Play dies a painful death and drags down the ITV brand even more! That will teach the “know it all’s” at ITV PLC to rip us of with these naff channels!

QuizCall will continue to exist, and no doubt will still appear on Five and on Sky and cable EPGs. To the average viewer, the only obvious change will be that it's no longer carried on Freeview as a channel in its own right.

All we know about the replacement channel is that it won't be a call-TV channel.

Excellent news, channel 4 must be on of the few television organisation, nay possibly the only one that has it's head screwed on.

All four channels (C4, More 4, E4 & Film 4) are virtually great in their own right (although E4 really need to stop showing Friends repeats)

They're lucky as Quiz call doesn't have the channel 4 name stamped all over it where as ITV Play does

Smile TV is just a f***ing waste of time & would be put to better use for someone like ABC 1

So what Quiz Call will still exist? Freeview viewers have now got their first big break since Film4. Any channel that isn't a call-in channel will suit us down to the ground.

Hmm... maybe freeview will be getting the apparently-confirmed Big Brother Channel next summer.

Meaning that E4 can carry on showing normal programmes - that should keep the haters happy!

Congrats Channel 4. I knew you'd do the right thing. Of all the networks that'd pull off this move, Channel 4 is the one I'm least surprised would do it. As previously said, they seem to have their heads screwed on.
