Initially bog standard adverts showing a countdown to the launch then on the 21st, Fiat branding in between the ads, on menus and as part of the idents. Wonder if they'll have the idents say "Fiat" where the Five would be or just slap the logo on?

I thought 0.5 second stings (ad 'flashes') had been banned? Or have I missed something?

You've probably missed all the OfCom changes from January 1st.

Pretty well everything's now allowed, so long as you don't mention fatty foods or sweeties.

I think the terrestrial channels are now allowed about 45 minutes of commercials in every hour.

Whilst I hate to agree with Mr L u x t o n, OfCom seem to have changed the rules so that we're practically limited, now, to 9 minutes of programmes per hour.

Can we even call what little non-advertisement there is on Channel 5 programming? Probably not; its quality means that it barely qualifies as 9 minutes of televised Heat Magazine . I detect a possible topic for next month's Comment , Nick.

I take it you've never tuned in, then. I have no idea what the Heat comment refers to.

Quote:
The overall creative concept behind the ident and sponsorship sequence is that the FIAT 500 and Five ‘brighten up your life’. The piece opens on a lifeless empty car park, when the Fiat 500 drives into the scene and halogen lights spontaneously burst into broad strokes of colour. The car multiplies as it playfully zips around the car park.

It's a horrible car innit.

I was wondering if they'd change the whole way and change the DOG into a car as well. Laughing

Brightens up your life my foot. I prefer the 'modern masterpieces' advert for the Fiat 500. But nevertheless, endless programmes about the Fiat 500 would be better than Five News with Natasha .

No i think it looks alright, the size of the car is important now though. It needs to be the size of the old mini or bigger so tall and fat people can get in it. The 500 ( cinquecento ) should now refer to bhp and not the engine's cc. Wink

I'm non plussed by this night of Five being dedicated, however lightly to this product but then almost every recent noise coming out of Five isn't impressing me in the slightest bit.

One can imagine the car writing the sponsorship cheque... or perhaps the payment is in the form of the car shuttling Natasha Kaplinsky around?
