the terrestrial channels were very poor and to be honest, i find news 24 quite stuffy. however, sky news was fantastic, informative, entertaining and very enjoyable. well done sky! i will be watching you again next year.

btw, couldn't be bothered to type upper/lower case correctly, to delicate from my post midnight celebrations!Wink

I couldn't agree more with you Lee, both BBC 1 and ITV 1 were awful. News 24 just felt quite empty, but as mentioned Sky News were all up for it!

And why weren't you all down the pub getting blitzed?

They don't allow under-age drinking in the pubs round here.

Ah, yes, there is that.

Looking through the schedules (although I didn't actually watch any of it) it seems the only ITV station which made an effort this year was UTV with their Kelly special. Sure beats a repeat drama on the English channels and a 'best-of-previous-hogmanay-shows' (what were STV thinking of for heaven's sake??) on STV/Grampian.

I was at a party and we watched the Times Square ball drop on ABC and NBC. Happy New Year everyone Smile !

Tsk tsk tsk! Look at you all! You all should have been down the pub getting 'merry.' I certainly did! Smile

Joking aside, I had no chance of watching these New Years festivities, apart from being down the pub - shoddy workmanship came out last night and the whole street lost power at 9pm last night. It hasn't long come back on! Bloody East Midlands Electricity - they can't do anything right!

New Years TV is always famed for it's bad quality. So, that's why I went out. Not funny trying to get ready in complete darkness actually but now I'm going VERY OT.

Same happened to me 2 years ago! Yes, millennium eve was celebrated on my street with a power cut! It went off at about 7pm and didn't come on till about 2am!

We went to the pub and they only could sell bottles as the pumps didn't work and the till would not work! Lol!

I watched News 24 - happy new year to you all, this is my first post in 2002!

This comes as no surprise rob.  Are you going to make it your New Years Resolution to watch at least one other channel throughout the course of the year ?  http://web.ukonline.co.uk/tv.home/forum/emoticons/biggrin.gif

lol, you'd be surprised. I do watch more than N24! It is the dominating channel, but I do watch others. I decided to watch N24 becuase the stuff on BBC ONE with Jonathon Ross was utter crap, so I thought I'd join Peter Dobbie and watch as they went around the country and indeed the world. Very good coverage. I didn't watch it all, as I was at my Uncle's/Aunty's house so I was busy with the cat!

as I was at my Uncle's/Aunty's house so I was bisy with the cat!

Was Tom aware that you were busy with him? Also, I couldn't imagine him watching News 24.

Again, joking aside - I probably would of joined one of the news channels for 12:00am as I just want to see midnight and that's it. I don't need to see all these other so called 'entertainment' shows. Probably about the only thing I would of watched would have been HIGNFY Review 2001 - but I was out.

Yeah, thats it - I don't want entertainment from the TV on New Year's Eve. We make our own - like playing Who Wants To Be A Millionnaire? on the Playstation! Great fun! Also, dancing to Ricky Tomlinson's 'Music My Arse'! It was an ugly sight, believe me!

Well I went a mates house last night and had 8 cans of FOSTERS so I was a bit **** ed. We didn't watch much TV and we went out at 11pm and spent the New Year at another party so I didn't catch any of those channels, but I normally find TV boring on New Years Eve anyway so I'd rather of been out, I would have taped somethink if there had been something that I might wanna watch!

After much consideration and about 50 phone calls I decided to pile everyone into my house for the New Year, if you think I'm going out in -10c and without a way to get home you can **** off. We actually had Sky One on for a bit and made a (shocking) attempt at the singing on there, bloody funny stuff. Anyway, Sky One took the midnight bit from Sky News and I turned over to them (the singing was really getting rather irritating at this point...) and I must say, congratulations to whoever it was - I had plenty of alcohol in my system by this point and so can't remember entirely who it was - for getting this very TV Forum mentioned on Sky News. Probably the case that the presenters were a little tipsy after downing that champers and didn't realise what they were saying.

On the run-up to 12 my brother was watching Space Ghost on C'toon N'work, we watched the bongs on Ch5, I checked text to see if it had gone (it had), checked 211 to see what Deadbeing were saying (nowt), and went to bed not long after that. Happy new thing, everyone!
