I think the Saturday scheduling is a decent idea, giving a nice alternative to yet more talent shows from the BBC and ITV. I'm looking forward to it. I'd like to think Paul will keep it from being typical Viacom trash.

If it were on ITV it would probably have been extended to 60 minutes with pointless waffle padding the show out.
What do you mean, extended to 60 minutes? The original show was that long! It was divided into four parts. Girl chooses a guy, guy chooses a girl, and two interviews with the previous week's contestants about their dates (I wonder, was the first ever episode half the usual length owing to having no previous contestants?).
I'm very impressed with the look of that trailer. I was worried that it would feel cheap on Channel 5 for some reason, but it seems like a caring modern version of the classic show. I wonder what they are going to schedule around it, surely something for a classic Saturday night feel, or knowing Channel 5, a clip show of animals that make you LOL or 100 greatest....

Actually it was originally only 45 minutes in length and then slowly extended to 60 minutes over a few series'
Not entirely sure about the theme tune, but I'm getting good vibes from Blind Date. With the wrong host it could've easily been obnoxious and sleazy but Paul is keeping it respectable, and the contestants don't seem to have the mentality of those on Take Me Out who you can just tell are desparate for a quick you-know-what. True to form, I like it.
I'm 60/40 for this remake. Paul as mentioned has kept it family friendly and respectful to the original Cilla Black delivery.
The main niggles are the set, which I think is too dark, the soft sofa area where brown reminds me of the 80s more than the return of Blind Date and Mel Sykes just doesn't have the voice or delivery of "Our Graham" with those cheesy puns.
However, it is largely faithful to the original bar the C5 budget on dates.
