Graham's emphasis on the Blin-D Da-TE was something I always used to mimic when younger. That and Cilla's little curtsy on the final 'doop' of the music! I always used to watch it just for that then turn straight over to Noel's House Party! How fickle I was!
You can hear through those titles how the introduction goes from "Blind Date" and "Miss Cilla Black" to "Blinder Data" and "MIss Cilla Blaaaahhhh"

Like Peter Dickson recently, ramp it up to the ultimate level, and then suddenly you've gone too far and become a caricature who is only known for that style of announcing and to keep the show fresh needs to be axed.
2002 was the sort of era when 1990s style of programming was on its last legs and suddenly looked very tired, and the start of the talent show era and the Millionaire style of quiz shows took over. Not just on ITV but on the BBC with their Saturday stuff as well.
I wonder if we will move into another era again at some point, as we are still in the 00s Saturday night style well into the 10s!
Regarding the look of ITV1, Looking back I found that era made more sense than what we got immediately before the current look, at least you could tell what they were aiming at.

Tommy Sandhu. He was a former Blind Date contestant and now is a reporter for The One Show.
Do we know who the trendy voice over was in 2002 ?

Apparently she was told to drop the curtsy at the end of her walk-on for the 2002 series but invariably she continued to do it of sorts. Occasionally it would become a vague shimmy.
She clearly knew the changes were the wrong direction for the show - and at the time there were all sorts of stories going around that ITV were courting people like Trisha Goddard, Melanie Sykes and Graham Norton to take over, which must have been pretty humiliating.
Still she had the last laugh.

The replacement for Blind Date was the awful programme with the equally awful title 'Love On A Saturday Night'.
Just think Blind Date without the charm of Cilla and adding the annoyingly hyper Davina McCall. And just replace the three girls hidden behind a screen with three girls wearing blindfold masks. Add the odd celebrity appearance and live links with Jonathan Wilkes (until someone swore and then they dropped them) and that sums up the show. It was obviously a flop.
Here's a brief clip of it:

If anyone remembers the 2002 series was so bad that Cilla actually announced she was quitting live on air, with the production crew having no idea until she did it.

Just the one episode and the first live episode.
Was all of the final series live, or was it just that one episode that was live and Cilla took the opportunity to poke itv in the eye when there was nothing they could do about it?
