a few minutes to show the balls.

Sounds like the kind of late night smut that was often on in Channel 5's earliest era... Wink

It's not like they made a big entertainment production out of the health lottery results, it was just a few minutes to show the balls.

Yeah! A bloody ridiculous post from Brekkie, it's just an advert effectively.

It would be like suggesting ITV showing ads for Friends Reunited (when they owned it), was an attempt to bolster their programming offering.

The way I read Brekkie's point though was that the Health Lottery results adds no real value to the channel, unlike the Press connections currently being used by Desmond and Co.

They don't, but they're not really meant to. They're meant to add value to health lottery and remind everyone it's there.

Exactly - and the article seemed to be implying that the value of C5 would be less as the new owners wouldn't be linked to the Health Lottery, and as everyone has said that is bollocks.

The links go a lot deeper than just the health lottery and news; C5 isn't a stand alone operation any more, it's been absorbed into N&S. I think they stopped short of taking over the actual playout and technical operations but it was rumoured.

Presumably this is why it's only making a profit via some complex accounting - what is solely C5's and what is shared is vague. Of course it will mean that anyone buying the channel will have to spend lots on rebuilding those departments, unless like Sky it'll just be another brand amongst others
