Hopefully whoever buys it see's the light and gets rid of Big Brother, it's way past it's sell by date.

Why on earth would they do that when it's the one thing that a large (for C5) audience watch it every night for a large portion of the year and it makes then so much money?

Yes, in fact Desmond has turned Channel 5 around quite dramatically, and Big Brother has helped its fortunes considerably.

It has to be said though, he often flirts with the idea of selling assets without going through with it.

I really don't see the value of Channel 5 to ITV. ITV2 seems to be doing the business for ITV, and I don't think Channel 5 is really that different now we are in the digital age. It's certainly not worth £700million to ITV.

If they had the funding, they could move ITV2 into Channel 5's slot, put 3 in 2's old slot and 4 in 3's old slot and have an ITV News Channel? Massive if though.

BT?

Would give them access to a slot for their proposed Free offerings of Sport, and enable them to enter other genres of Content whilst retaining the best of the existing service,

Good call - could be BT's equivalent of Sky One!
