Theyve always had a desk, but theyve always sat on top of it, rather than behind it was youre trying to say. My question is, why have they chose to do this? I though this new idea of sitting on the desk was a winning formula, and gave the programme a more casual feel. Seems theyve changed their minds

YES they did sit behind a desk - '5 News Early' 1997-1998 Scott, Trish and Becky (NOW AT CNN LONDON) did!
Also the old 5 News Specials - Cancer special, Kirsty sat behind the famous purple desk....
The rather small desk they have now isn't that big, Katie and Charlie like to sit on it but Rob hates sitting on it so he always stands - except for updates when they have to sit to operate the auto cue!

It would be good if Martin Popplewell had a bigger role in 5 News, he is a great presenter. Have 5 News not considered having two presenters per bulletin?
What exactly will we see behind the presenter? Will there be just a plain blue wall, a shot of the newsroom or something else? Also, I really wish that Channel 5 would bring their poor weather presenters indoors! No doubt the weather will get a new look as well?

I hear that they are going to be keying the weather from the new year as its going to be produced by WSI who produces weather for Channel 4 News / The BIG Breakfast / HTV and ITN NEWS CHANNEL...
Watch out for a return of former 5 News at Breakfast presenters Jeff Moody, Sain Jones and Tanya James over Christmas....

OK listen to this - there will be NO desk that idea wasn't chosen, the studio will look like the liquid news set but without a desk oh and it won't be white anymore. The colours are all taken from the channel 5 colour bar like the colours from the launch in 1997.
The aston supers will also look like liquid news supers too, and the '5' bug in the corner will change when the news is on the '5 news'.
And for the first time there will be window keys.

That sounds cool, bit of a last minute change though?
So, if it's not white and there is no desk how will it look like the Liquid News studio ?
Do you mean it will have screens around the studio ?

Well no not really but it just said liquid news to me when I saw the chosen design, because of the sort of semi-circle shape sofa.
The graphics are very similar in terms of those little curved edged rectangles etc...
I was trying to do a mock but it looks rubbish so I stopped.
'Active' was right the weather will be from the studio from the new year.

It sounds good to me, very modern. They tried to be modern with the current look, but failed miserably. They've got a long way to go before they can beat the original 5 News look, which to me was perfect in every way, but this sounds promising.
Good news about the weather too, perhaps it won't be as vague if that other company are doing it, whatever they are called. Current - 'Hello, we're predicting rain tonight maybe. Goodnight.'
