I saw 'The Morning After Show' for the first time today, and have to say I have a balanced opinion.
I feel the presenters handled the show and its guests well, this format clearly suits Simon Amstell, and Olivia.
On the other hand, I thought some items were downright pathetic. Using a camera for bowling?! Whose idea was that?
I also feel T4's budget on comedy is rather low, what with the clowns in the audience and the cheap jokes from the woman permanantly glued down at the desk.
Although I didnt find the show that bad, I can't help but get a sense that Channel 4 are deeply regretting their axe of BB. How right they would be.
Oh I didn't know this thread was discussing "The Morning After Show", not sure why it's being refered to in the same thoughts as The Big Breakfast. It's obviously only a weekly show just like TFI Friday or The Friday Night Project, except not reling on swearing to get a cheap laugh.
I think it's a decent enough show, Simon's sections are obviously the best bits, especially when he goes and visits a Petrol Station or a Library. He's just doing the same as the stuff he does on Popworld except outside of the music genre.
A revamp for T4 is long overdue, how long they are stringing out this T4 in America business I don't know, the fact it is recorded and each link doesn't refer to anything before or after it makes the whole thing feel disjointed. I don't know why they can't just present live (or as-live done the day before for Vernon) links between programmes just like CBBC do.
Off topic slightly. T4 is undergoing a "major re-vamp" next month. Vernon Kay has signed a new contract and Apparently "Big Changes" are ahead.

Why do they insist on keeping Vernon (and June for that matter)- everyone knows he's on Radio 1 at the same time and he's now beginning to break into mainstream TV.

Much prefer Steve Jones and Miquita!
Wouldn't the fact that Vernon and June are making their breaks on TV now ('Playing It Straight', 'Hit Me Baby One More Time'), be all the more reason for T4 wanting to keep hold of them i.e they want popular and well-known characters?
Steve Jones is good, but isn't he focused on exclusive interviews etc. I think hes the one who was poached from RI:SE?
I don't know, as I thought Channel 4 had ruled out any possibility of a new breakfast show for weekday mornings because they wernt pulling in the ratings- thats why they put it on a Suday afternoon I guess.
