Did anyone catch C4's new "Sunday afternoon breakfast show" today with Simon Amstell and Olivia Lee - The Morning After Show
I thought it was quite a good way to fill an hour on Sunday afternoons (rather than more Friends!). Simon Amstell is brilliant and Olivia Lee (a cross between Kirsty Gallagher and Kelly Brook) could hold her own. Not to sure about their comic sidekick though.
Nothing too original - but nothing too bland!
I wouldn't mind seeing this converted into a proper breakfast show either - can't believe it's 3 years since The Big Breakfast came to an end!
I read in the Mirror this was originally pitched as a weekday breakfast show. Ch4 turned it down though because it wasn't "enough"- but offered this sunday slot instead. IMO it was crap. Simon's a good enough presenter but his blonde co-host was was more blue peter and the women behind the desk was annoying as hell (not to mention terribly un-funny) Has anyone noticed that since TFI ended all ch4's live yoof shows have been practically the same? The Priory, Boy's & Girl's, Friday Night Project and now this. All different shows..but essentially the same
I was thinking about this recently - why doesn't Channel4 do 'T4' branded section from 6-8 with guests, chat etc, some filler progs with say , a 60 second update from the Channel4 News team every half hour - then at 8am do 'Channel4 News at Breakfast' - since from 8am BBC breakfast news seems to 'dumb down'. So while the news may not appeal to the 'yoof' audience it may appeal to a different audience.
GET A BREAKFAST SHOW CHANNEL FOUR!
I do like channel 4 on weekday mornings but we need a live breakfast show. We've never had Breakfast shows return before as someone said here in 2003 and i don't think RI:SE was that bad. It might have been a bit boring but i'd have got some different presenters in.
Dani Behr and Joe Mace could have been on there because they left TSS and that could have suited them more.
BTW,I missed it! Has anyone got the titles in wmv, wav, mov or mpg?
The original 2002 version of RI:SE was very good IMO, as it provided a good service that wasn't provided by the BBC or GMTV, especially as it was aimed towards younger people, but still kept it's focus on News and Sport.
Though I believe Channel 4 have made it clear that they won't be doing anymore 2 hour Breakfast shows, maybe something new, but instead for 30 minutes or an hour, but that was going to be The Good, The Bad and The Early which has been shelved. Though Channel 4 give a good alternative at Breakfast time, as no other channel shows normal entertainment at that time of day.
Though IMO it would be better if they had a mix of Entertainment, but a mix of News, Sport and Travel thrown in too. Now don't say bring back The Big Breakfast, yes it was good in it's day, but it finished way after it's use by date IMO. The show got better towards the end, probably because they knew they were ending soon, so they could get away with things, same really to Brookside when that got moved to 11pm on Tuesday nights.
They could even do T4 Daily all-year-round.
Or.....
HOW ABOUT TV-AM ON CHANNEL 4?
GMTV has lasted 12 years [and is still on] and TV-am only lasted 10.That's not fair is it?
