The Big Breakfast was a 7-9am event, which sadly ended in March 2002. But since then, the 7-9am schedulling on Channel 4 has never really been the same since; apart from when RI:SE was on air, it still even was'nt the same feeling. Who else agrees that Channel 4 should bring back The Big Breakfast! They need something at that time of the morning to compete with BBC Breakfast and ITV's GMTV.
If Channel 4 decided to relaunch the BIG Breakfast, just over three years after it's "Last Ever" show, where exactly would
they broadcast it from? The (former) BIG Breakfast House in Bow, East London, has since been converted into a private
residential property. Even if C4 bought the House back, and re-converted it back into Lock Keepers Cottages, major
local regeneration work will soon begin in preparation for the 2012 Olympics, which would effectively rule out the
entire vicinity of Bow and Stratford for the production a daily live morning television broadcast.
I seriously doubt that Channel 4 would be prepared to spend any of the necessary time and money on finding a suitable
alternative property to convert into a new BIG Breakfast House, when there a chance that such a relaunch could flop
even more badly than the two failed relaunches that took place in 2001 and 1996 while the show was still on air.
At this time, and for at least the forseeable future, it's still way too soon to bring it back. Especially since the original
show is still fresh in people's minds, and fondly remembered by some who'd rather not have that memory tarnished
by another failed relaunch. If the BB ever does return, it'd be better to wait a few more years. Perhaps they should
leave it about as long as it took the BBC to decide to bring back Doctor Who. If they leave it long enough, a new
relaunched BIG Breakfast might just work. Relaunch it too soon, and it may bec another RI:SE style failure.
I personally couldn't see Channel 4 bringing on any Breakfast show, considering The BB was a flop towards the end, and RI:SE being a massive failure in terms of ratings. It'll probably stay the way it is, repeats of US sitcoms and Big Brother, they pull in the viewers to an extent, and they cost nothing compared to the production values of RI:SE, The BB and even Channel Four Daily, which must have cost a fortune.
Watch This Morning with Richard Bacon and Denise Van Outen and hope that Ford advert comes on during one of the breaks. The guy in that ad looks just like Carpet Monster.
I think thats the closest to The Big Breakfast we are going to get.
The guy in that ad looks just like Carpet Monster.
That's because the guy in that ad IS (or rather was) Carpet Monster!
Who is also one of the crew members on this morning, if you look closely on the crew shots, you may recognise him. He's even there when phil & fern are on, well he was anyway.

I think his name is Paul Sadler. We will all have to check the credits on This Morning to see if he is listed and see if his job title is Carpet Monster.
the second incarnation of RI:SE (Iian Lee + Kate Lawler) was actually rather good but was of course ruined due to it hanging onto the name of a totally different and flop of a show.
I think RI:SE was gradually getting better towards the end of it's first incarnation, and started to be an almost acceptable
replacement for the BIG Breakfast. Then, Channel 4 decide to spoil it, and turn it into a lame imitation of the BB, and
inflicted that unfunny gimp Iain Lee on us. Seeing that gormless prat (which is putting in mildly) on the telly first
thing in the morning was not enjoyable, and I ended up turning to either BBC Breakfast or the Radio 2!
