A deserving winner. No other channel gets the balance of programming right in the way C4 do.
Love the end of the press release from C4:
Quote:
Channel 4 named Channel of the Year
Channel 4 was named Channel of the Year at the Broadcast Awards, with judges describing C4 as “a channel firing on all cylinders and winning both critical and commercial success”.
Channel 4 picked up a handful of other awards; our Ashes coverage, won the best sports programme category; Sex Traffic won best one-off drama and The Real Sex Traffic won best documentary programme. Plus Jamie’s School Dinners was Highly Commended in the Best Documentary Series category.
The Paul O’Grady Show was also named best daytime show, but we can’t take any credit for that. Yet.
They've been robbed of this award quite a few times recently especially last year but they couldn't not give it to them this time. It's ratings have gone up while other terrestrial channels ratings have fallen, they have hit shows and hit critically acclaimed shows. And their new idents reflect the freshness of the channel. This recognition was long overdue
