Channel 4 thing

If the junction into Countdown is anything to go by, Channel 4 seems to have taken to cross-fading instead of cutting from trailer to ident to sponsor promo to programme. And it looks really bad.

They've been doing it for most of the day, I agree it just doesn't look right. The 12pm kinda freaked me out a little bit, there was the end of the '4 is 25' promo and the late Richard Whiteley smiling at the screen and a slow fade into the Pilons ident. It just looks slow for Channel 4.

But saying that this isn't the first time this has gone on recently.

They might have a pres director from the earlier days of Channel 4 on today, would fit in with the 25 year anniversary and explain the crossfades.

Or it could be something else, just throwing things out here.

They used to slow fade the colour blocks (on black background) over slides so that it almost looked like the symbol was being keyed in.

Almost .

It must be a specific director as they did it about a month ago. It's weird how you get used to a channel just cutting instead of fading and how it's really noticable (to us at least!) when it happens.
