Channel 4 sound loss

Anyone else lose the sound half way thru Frasier?

It's back on the ads, though.

About ten minutes ago, there was a complete loss of sound on Channel 4 (Sky). I thought at first that
my Sky digibox was playing up, so I turned over to ITV1 and five in quick succession to check, and
sound was intact on both of those channels. The sound returned to CH4 at the start of the ad break.

Because of this, I missed the last few minutes of tonights episode of Frasier, which p*ssed me off!

As I type this now, the current Ch4 program (Sex And The City) is being played without any sound.
Also, the continuity announcements and trailers have just been broadcast completely silent as well.

It's back now. I hope they repeat Frasier for us.

Yes It fekin annoyed me as well!!!

That and the interuptions I was gettin from my room mates..

Ah, I've just flipped to ITV1 and back again, and indeed, the sound has returned to Channel 4.

(They'd better re-run tonight's episode of Frasier, or they'll have me to answer to!)

I just put Channel 4 on then and the announcer aplogised but now I have a picture problem, normal 4:3 being squashed in Letterbox mode, luckily I was watching ITV!

Aaaggh! I've just realised . . . I've gone and left it on "Sex And The CIty" . . . shudder!

/me starts to look for something better to watch . . . shouldn't be too difficult!

In London the sound was missing on C4 Analogue and C4 Sky during the beginnning of SATC.

It was all over the country and the sound went half way through the last half of Frasier. It only returned for the adverts, which are regional so obviously played out somewhere else.

All adverts on Channel 4 are played out from C4 HQ (Horseferry Road London) and then split into the regions and sent off to the respective transmitters - so no matter where you live, all the adverts are coming from London...

Thank you for your email regarding the loss of sound during FRASIER. Unfortunately this was due to a technical problem (an amplifier failed).

We attempted an on-air announcement at the end of Frasier, however due to the ongoing sound problems it was inaudible. We therefore had to wait until the first ad break in Sex And The City, at which point we put up a slide with another on-air apology.

We would like to take this opportunity to apologise for the disruption in your viewing pleasure and would like to reassure you that our technical team were working to rectify the problem as soon as possible.

For your information, Frasier is due to be repeated on Channel 4 at 12.30pm on Monday 8 March 2004.
