Did anyone notice something that could be a clue to the new look Channel Four, rumoured for early 2004?

During the trailer at 7.29 this evening, just before Channel 4 News, there was a clock in the upper left corner of the screen. It was a greenish-turquoise rounded square, with the current time in a white sans-serif font. It disappeared just before the trailer ended, as though someone has just noticed it and switched it off.

I thought it could be the clock to be used for the new Channel 4 morning strand (clocks don't tend to appear at any other time) or perhaps it might have been for new-look news (but it wasn't).

Did anyone else see it? Does anyone have any info about the relaunch of C4 in the near future?

WIll there really be a relaunch? There would be a 20th anniversary celebration, and there wasn't, there would be a 21st anniversary celebration accompanied by a whole new look for the channel, and there wasn't.

Will there really be a new look in 2004? I wouldn't like to bet on it.

Channel 4 do seem to be the only remaining UK broadcaster who understands the value there is in building a brand rather than starting again every few years. I wouldn't like to bet on the retirement of the squares any time soon.

Ahh yes, Dan abseiling down the side of C4's HQ in the dead of night dressed in black with a balaclava to see a sneak peek.

Apparantly MDTA tried to do the same thing at Lambie-Nairns HQ, but the rope snapped...

If it was just a rounded square shape with the time inside, I wonder whether it could be on screen clock for the new breakfast period of programmes from tomorrow.

Yes, and I've never understood why I can never find your place.

I must be copying your address down wrong, I think...
