Just a few thoughts on the new style end-caps from Channel 4.

The rules state the production logo must be on the left half of the screen (14:9 safe), over the same background as the credits. The background can not be white. No logo is required on the RHS - C4 insert this themselves live at the end of the ECP.

Personally I think this looks a mess - the C4 logo looks far too big, especially on 4:3 programmes such as Big Brother. Also, when a logo isn't used (eg Hollyoaks) the screen looks empty. Richard and Judy seem to have a different endcap everyday.

It looks alot better when they use the smaller ECP on the right third of the screen (on programmes that had the old format of credits!) - and the ECP looks better IMO too.

However - as Shameless has a final scene after the credits they haven't used the standard endcap and broken all the rules. Firstly, the background is white - and secondly the production logo takes up the left two-thirds of the screen.

No logo has been inserted so far - but on Tuesday C4 did put their logo on the RHS of the screen and it looked alot better than the standard endcaps.

Effectively the screen is white with the C4 logo on the right third of the screen and the production logo on the left two-thirds. It be nice to see this look adapted as the standard style.

What do you think - and if anyone has any caps to illustrate what I mean please post them!
