Strange comparing the quality of the animation from the relatively poor quality of the current series 1 eps they're showing!

When did The Simpsons change from being hand drawn to the more "computerised" effect as seen on the ident and in the forthcoming movie? (Especially noticeable if you compare the way they do moving backgrounds)

It looks like they've tried to use the current cut-out C4 logo (as seen in promos, print etc.) rather than the regular version they use in idents.

I think they changed to digital ink and paint somewhere around 2001/02.

Who are the Channel 4 and E4 announcers? They often seem to have interesting vocal impediments.

I saw the ident before The Friday Night Project - I do not think it is very good. There is not a strong link between the animation at the start and the logo at the end. The Channel 4 logo does not look that impressive in that array of lights. The animation goes on for too long and it would have been better with some music.

Poor.

I think they only made it becuse of the Simpsons Movie.

Agreed, it's not a properly integrated ident at all, it's like a bit of random stock Simpsons footage with a 4 logo tagged on at the end.

Of course this isn't the first ident they've had which has incorporated a cartoon they air. 1999 i think they started using 2 versions of a South Park special ident with the sweeping bars. One killing Kenny by slicing his head off and the other with Chef grabbing one of the bars and giving it some loving.
At least those were better as they incorporated the current style of the idents. These don't really match with anything at all.

They have done stuff for Channel 4 before and did something for This Is Your Life with Simon Cowell.

The version on This is Your Life was actually made for American Idol
