Did anyone read a very interesting article today in the media guardian about the possible replacements for the Big Breakfast? It said that Channel 4 was increasingly warming to the idea of having a news programme to replace it instead of some wacky MTV style thing. Apparently they were very impressed (rightly in my opinion) with Krishnan Guru-Murthy when he anchored a special Channel 4 News in place of the Big Breakfast the day after the US terror attacks. He apparently would attract the right audience to the slot, and according to the article would be 'just as comfortable interviewing Kylie Minogue as he would Colin Powell'. ITN are said to be considering a late bid to C4, but are worried the last time C4 did anything like this - the Channel 4 Daily - it was a pile of poo. Is Jeremy Bowen a tad worried?

Id like this programme- I loved the replacement for the BB a couple of weeks ago and C4 daily was not a pile of poo. It was thanks to their on-screen clock I learnt to tell the time when I was 4 rather that 6 or 7. I dont like wacky stuff in the mornings. I prefer toi watch breakfast over the BB but if C4 News had a morning programme I would prefer that to breakfast as C4 have nice in-depth coverage compared to the BBC and GMTV.

Yes, it would be good, but I guess it's all down to demographics really, the audience that Channel 4 are actually trying to attract at that time of the morning. Will Channel 4 News actually attract enough viewers away from the BBC & GMTV ? Where will the Big Breakfast viewers go, and will they actually get more viewers for this type of programme ? Generally people don't have time for in-depth news coverage at that time in the morning unlike in the evenings.
