I love this one as it's surreal and slightly sinister and jokey at the same time. Also the '4' is onscreen for just long enough for you to make it out.
It looks like E4 will be moving away from the band theme for Christmas this year from the look of this weeks broadcast.
New idents have been designed based around the current E4 animation links, unless of course this is what they have designed.

Any caps?
It's about time E4 ditched the band - they've been running for quite a few years and never really made the bold statement the rest of E4's package does.

There was a tiny picture in last friday's broadcast magazine, I will try and find it and try and take a picture or something.
EDIT: I remember that it did say that they will be on air from December 10th
We'll wait and see - it could just be a sting, and we all know how many trade publications still don't know the difference between an ident, sting and promo!

That's true. I still don't know what to call E4's animations that the announcers talk over, they're not menus, but too long to be a sting.
Hopefully they will be idents though. I've never understood why they haven't created idents based on the animations.
It looks as if the E4 is wrapped up, maybe the idea is that it will unwrap over Christmas.
I wonder if Channel 4 will ever do anything festive again.

Going slightly OT, but Max Headroom is back, but he's advertising Channel 4's Digital channels...
The E4 logo in its basic vector form would actually look great and be brought up to date if it was given the 'angular' treatment (like the ident posted above by cylon6) instead of the curved corners it has now.
It would fit better with the rest of the Channel 4 family too.
It's got to be due for a facelift soon - it's 7 years old in January and it is supposed to be a youthful channel after all.
