I'm curious about this one - I've never seen that menu before. Is it just something they run to get themselves back on time at a fixed point in the schedule?
The first example is I believe the menu that they run after the last nightime programme and before the first children's programme. I imagine it's used as a buffer for soaking up any over/underruns accrued during the previous day. Clearly the same background can be used for animated miscellaneous presentation items like the News Report "slide" - it's possible they are premade, but it could also be that the presentation director can create one quickly with whatever wording is necessary and a caption generator/video playback device could render it live on air.
It's used normally for the 'more details about the issues in this programme....' type announcements. Presumably they can just type anything over the top of it
There was a tech fault earlier this year during Celebrity Big Brother. The fault lasted about 2 or 3 minutes and the music played at least 4 times. It got highly annoying after the second time and is not the most ideal music to listen to during a fault, especially if it lasts for a long time.
