They started using these new idents on Monday afternoon and it is about time too, as they were still using the ident which had clips of Fifteen To One and Countdown when they had the orange set until last week and looked very dodgy considering Fifteen To One was axed. Though these new idents aren't fantastic, it's just one big ECP really, or one bad Channel 4 ident.

I like the Channel 4 ECP thing now, both the current and the previous one with just the box. It's quite neat I think. Plus of course when they squash something that isn't in the ECP format (such as a film or whatever) it doesn't look too bad at all.
I had noticed the new menus and was surprised that the previous ones still had 15-to-one on them and the previous Countdown set. The old Countdown set on those images had been there for months after Countdown's set was changed. Must have been just before it was shifted to 3:15.
I think the Beat the Nation programmes needs speeding up a bit though, it feels slow.

Is it the same company who make Beat The Nation and Fifteen to one? I know BTN is made by Endermol (and made at the Carlton Studios in Nottingham) but I'm sure it wasn't them who made 15-1?

I think Beat The Nation needs to streamline itself and as I say, speed up a bit. Problem is, there isn't really anywhere they can tweak it to speed the format up. It's a shame because it spoils an otherwise bog standard format with an obscure scoring system. Doesn't seem to have the charm or appeal of either 15 to one and Countdown, the former for its toughness in the questions and the latter for the poor jokes/puns and awful ties. Still, BTN is okay for what it is, I suppose

It wasn't, it was Regent who's produced 15-1 throughout it's existance.
Which is ironically owned by Fremantle Media.

Um, what's the link that makes it so ironical?

The link being that they make BTN at Carlton and Fremantle owns Thames. (Dodgy ITV link basically)
I should have thought of better wording for that post.
