And Friends as well, while they're at it (August 2008)

Is that the one in Brazil? If so that caused quite a bit of a stir in Brazil when originally shown. I wonder if (when they show it again), they'll edit out the line "Our money is so gay" (refering to the brightly coloured Brazillian banknotes) in case anyone takes offence Rolling Eyes

That caused some contraversy the Brazil episode. What 623058 was trying to say was that the show was taken off in a South American country because the broadcaster thought it was sending out negative values, and they replaced it with Baywatch, but my understanding is that it has been reinstated.

Ah apologies I misread it. Laughing

Does Channel 4 get the tape already cut or do they cut it themselves?

They do it themselves.

Well it's not just The Simpsons, Scrubs & Friends

4Music is currently playing Electric Six's "Gay Bar" the lines:

Let's start a war
Start a nucelar war

and instead it was

Let's start a *whip sound*
Start a *whip sound*

Yet the line:

I've got something to put in you
In the gay bar

is perfectly acceptable Rolling Eyes

Ha ha, that reminds me of when the Red Hot Chili Peppers were on the Simpsons, and the network were concerned about the Give It Away lyrics
Krusty: Where it says, "What I got you gotta get it put it in ya," how about just, "What I'd like is I'd like to hug and kiss ya."
then they agree that it is much better
Joy of joys!

Slightly off topic, local BBC radio(dunno about national) is playing Scouting for Girls - Heartbeat without the 'ass' word, but local commercial radio is playing it in full !

Crazy! Confused

They might be using an old copy. I seem to remember that song coming out (no pun intended Wink ) when the Iraq war had just started, and so the idea of nuclear war was very high on peoples minds again. I certainly don't recall being surprised that it was edited at the time.

It is evident from the past five pages that they are butchering The Simpsons on Channel 4, but on some days Sky One show it in the same 6pm slot. Do they edit scenes out this frequently, if at all?

Also, are there any other channels who have done instances of this in their imports?

Channel 4 just messed up the credits on the first episode of The Simpsons. As usual during T4, they play the credits in widescreen so they can fit in an IPP.

The episode had God talking to Col. Sanders over the credits so as the episode was finishing we heard God say "Don't you think its about....." and then Channel 4 switched to widescreen and played out credits for a completely different episode (listing guest stars such as Blink182 who weren't in the episode).

Before the break they showed a clip of the episode coming up, but it was actually the episode that was just on.

The second episode is on now and this IS the episode featuring Blink182, so it looks like the episode order was changed at the last minute.

It will be interesting to see what happens at the end of this episode. Will we hear God talking over the credits for no reason?

It wasn't possible to hear God talking, but it was the credits for the previous episode (Lisa Leslie was credited as the guest star). Strange swap Confused
