Good concept, badly executed. A lot of faffing about at the start and end, and apart from extra publicity, I don't see the benefit of doing it live.

The extra time at the beginning and end was presumably needed because such a stunt cannot be timed any more tightly. Better to have it all quite loose than run out of time.

Doing it live is the whole point of the exercise, if they'd done it in a Good Morning Britain style and editted it for an ad no one would have been interested at all... we certainly wouldn't be taling about the latest Honda ad here!

You hit it on the head when you mention 'extra publicity'... that's the point of advertising!

That was excellent - million times more interesting than the programme.

I thought that was great. And I loved the build-up at the start, as there's a point to that - setting the scene, and building up the anticipation for the jump.

Once the letters had been formed, the ad did lose pace, though. I know they needed padding because they couldn't time things exactly, but it would have been better to have special dispensation to cut the ad short once they'd done the jump, and just ended with that (excellent) final shot.

Still great, though.

what a load of badly executed tripe. too much drivvel speak from them too, surely they could have been circling the drop zone better at the start so we didn't get that boring bit at the start?

not impressed.

Oh some of you cynics! Rolling Eyes Like most people I loved the ad, it was great to hear the skydivers cheering at the end and chuffed to bits. "Hello Mum!" Very Happy

This is presumably the first time an ad has had a preceding continuity announcement. It went something like this

"Now on 4 you're about to watch a very special live ad break. Hope you're not scared of heights", with the completely unnecessary *Not live on Channel 4+1 disclaimer at the bottom.

It sounded funny to hear the ad referred to at all as presenters and announcers aren't supposed to talk about adverts as a rule. James Whale did this a few weeks before he was sacked from TalkSPORT, is there any rule the man didn't break? Very Happy

C4 have introduced a couple of special ad breaks lately, notably the ones to mark the 25th anniversary and during Grand Designs live, which was supposed to be celebrating "Grand Designs" - though featured the same ads as any other ad break would.

That wasn't the reason he was sacked, and the Channel 4 announcer didn't say who the advert was for.

Looks like that ad didn't go to well

According to this none of the skydivers on the ad were involved in Friday's crash, but it was the same plane. Horrible piece of news though, and weird so soon after a high-profile ad!

Yeah that's a bit chilling to read that after watching it on the ad. Shocked
