Channel 4 Breakdown? The first in it's new look?

At around 4.55pm yesterday, during Carry on Teacher, the film scrambled, then fast-forwarded itself then scrambled again, then went to a black screen with a white fuzzy line, then onto a Channel 4 programme board, then an announcer came on and said "Well, what a Carry on, we don't quite know what's happenning, and we'll get it back to you as soon as possible". Then the same announcement came back again a few minutes and finally at around 4.58pm, the announcer came back on and said "i'm pleased to say we can now rejoin, Carry on Teacher". Then it rejoined the film. Then during the break the announcer came back and said "We apologise for that problem during the film, we hope it didn't spoil anything". Is this proof that Channel 4 announcers are recorded live or is this just recorded in case of a problem.

Is this the first breakdown in Channel 4's new look?

Not at all - I think the first was during the early stages of Celebrity Big Brother.

There were also problems last week during Hollyoaks and C4 News - though not a full break down.

The one in big brother was basically the parts of the 4 moving around and back again with a brick background in the shadows.

And I do believe that Channel 4's announcers have always been live, somebody can put me straight on this fact, but I believe they are, as for E4 I'm not sure.

Yes, the Channel 4 announcers are alive. They beyond-the-grave antics of other stations just don't wash with the 4 bosses.

I saw that one on Celeb Big Brother - thety never seemed to return to the programme after the sponsorship.

Now that is a Carry On.

They've used some pre-rec continuity before. I seem to remember on some Friday nights during Big Brother 5 there was a lot of, "And tonight's evictee will be talking to Davina in 30 minutes" etc.
