On pre-recorded 4:3 stuff like Friends, you get the pixelation of the last couple of frames of the ident, at the same moment as the ratio changes, but not so much of the repeat of the randon pixels during the black.

It's nothing to do with an ARC fault, it's a timing fault in that the ratio change is being triggered a tad too early.

I've spoken to the people there and that's exactly what the problem is.

I accept that Mr McGonagle will simply assume that I'm just talking an anagram of carp, but never mind, sailor vee, as they say!

When you all realise it's true, then you'll all realise it's true.

It's all very odd. The switch is, of course, happening at your STB/TV and not in the C 4 pres suite (they are only sending out the GPI pulse), therefore the pixelisation is not taking place in the suite, but, it would seem, in your STB.

Out of interest, did they tell you why the pixelisation is intermittent and does not occur on every aspect ratio switch? I'd also be interested in knowing why, as you say, it is worse on live programmes than it is on pre-recorded material?

Seeing as C 4 have acknowledged to you that they know this is a problem, and, as you say, is caused by the GPI pulse being sent too early, did they say what they would be doing to resolve the issue?
