WOW, that is just fantastic. I hope this gets a play on Channel 4 itself rather than it's sister channels.

This is very enjoyable anyyway - love the trailer for tomorrow night done as it almost would have been before the C4 News or at closedown in 1982 or 1983 - even with the right print.

I don't think any of it was reconstruction, the menus and continuity looked the same as clips of the first night that I've seen on the net

Wow, that's stunning. Hope it gets used before all of the Channel 4 at 25 programmes!

You've lost me I'm afraid - I was talking about during the first advert break, they did an advert for tomorrow night's programmes on More 4, in the style of the voiced programme menus they used to do in 1982 and 1983 before Channel Four News and sometimes at closedown.

Ahhh, sorry I thought you meant the archive continuity within the programme

Maybe they'll repeat the thing I was talking about in one of the remaining breaks, or you can see it in about 15 minutes on More4 +1!

The clip from the opening night was genuine OK, but looked like it was from a VHS copy, as did the bit of Countdown they showed from the opening night, whereas the later trailer for Countdown is clearly from a broadcast quality recording.

First hour of this documentary has been really interesting, it's also been good to see and hear Four Score being played at every ad break available.

And interesting to hear Michael Grade's opinion on Chris Morris and the C U Next Tuesday incident.

I think, sometimes programme makers get rough VHS copies of other programmes to take clips from, rather than good ones.

Haven't had chance to watch it all the way through - will save that for tomorrow but from the bits of pres I've been forwarding through to, absolutely brilliant!

I agree that there's something just not quite right about the recreated ident - it doesn't "sweep past your nose" like the originals did however 10 out of 10 for bothering to do it at all! The sting featuring all four presentation brands they've had is just brilliant. As was the menu recreation too promoting tomorrow night's / 1982 programmes.

Hopefully they'll make a lot of use of all pres and the iconic blocks for the next month on the main channel too.

I would imagine this will get a wider airing - it's one of the better documentaries of its type that I've seen.

C4 is making good use of one of its sister channels for this retrospective season, but I can't imagine Channel 4 itself won't do special things on and about 2 November - retrospective presentation included. The thing is, the blocks and music don't really look dated at all - they look classic now, they were so ahead of their time then.

Fantastic ident recreations, fantastic documentary.

I'd love Four Score to get a full play out with a montage at the end.
