They've just shown some great vintage adverts in the ad break for Channel 4 at 25! Brought back some memories! Very Happy

Indeed, the originals used yesterday did seem very old fashioned compared with everything else that's on screen at the mo. The format of having a single sting and animation before the announcement hasn't been used for years. The very solid, crisp, 3D style of computer animation is also very rare these days, at least in the UK.

Well, certainly for the five terrestial channels. But, watching More4 earlier after seeing the original Channel 4 idents yesterday, their idents seem like a[n indirect, given the different logo, obviously] update of the original C4 idents...

Anyone just see the Vintage 'Now & Then' Ad break inbetween 'Channel 4 at 25'?
We had a vintage BT advert with a Pigeon, a PIF for the Green Cross Code and another one including the special Jungle Book advert.
Seems like the treats haven't stopped! Very Happy

Missed that - guess there's always C4+1. What time are we talking?

Surprised they did that in this though and didn't do something yesterday in either Countdown or the Anniversary Quiz.

I think it must be on all the ad breaks! There are more classic ones on now mixed with new ones! Laughing

Just seen the first break on +1... the idea to have the early 80's advert followed by its modern equivalent is excellent. I'd forgotten about Busby!

Surprised no-one mentioned the "Four 4s" sting (with the original 4s turning into the circles, into the [4], into a white-on-black version of the current "4".)

They have been using that for C4 at 25 in More4 weeks ago.

And on the subject of video, for anyone who missed the collection of classic adverts throughout this documentary (given they aired it 11.20-1.20, I imagine there's a few folks going to be kicking themselves tom... today), the whole lot are now up at the bottom half of - http://www.tvwhirl.co.uk/c4252007.html

I couldn't help but notice most of the companies taking part were the big corporates of course. But then again, not surprising when you see the quality of video copies for the likes of Marmite and Iceland that remain! Overall I think it's safe to say I've been impressed with Channel 4's efforts this evening, though they've not quite topped yesterday.
