I know, it would be more Channel 4 if they put boobs on them.

Yes! Now you're talking!

Seriously though, that transparent blocks idea would be good though. I can imagine them being translucent almost, so that we can still see it properly (rather than seeing through it completely), and there would be a nice effect with the lights. We're on a roll tonight!

OK, if the 4 was covered in tits, would the back of it be covered in arses?

It's being changed a few times over the next year. I assume after that it'll be removed - which I think is for the best as Horseferry Road doesn't need a big C4 logo stuck in front of it!

Presentation wise there is a new celebrity ad about links to the literacy campaign, with various C4 people telling us their favourite letter - though this time they're in that forest of letters as seen in the other ads.

Listings now out for the week leading up to the big day - Friday 2nd November - when C4 itself begins to mark the occassion:

C4: Fri 2nd Nov

2:55pm COUNTDOWN: 25 YEARS AGO TODAY
At 4.45pm on Tuesday 2 November 1982, Britain's new TV channel launched with Countdown , a fast-moving game of letters and numbers, in which contestants race against the clock to pit their wits with vo

wels, consonants and numbers. Another chance to see this first episode, presented by Richard Whiteley, the first face to appear on Channel 4, and featuring 21-year-old Carol Vorderman from Leeds, who had just graduated from Cambridge University with a BA in Civil Engineering, and Dictionary Corner guest Ted Moult.

3:25pm COUNTDOWN: 25TH BIRTHDAY SPECIAL
The first ever programme to be transmitted on Channel 4 has reached a truly momentous milestone; Countdown , the nation's favourite words and numbers game, celebrates its 25th anniversary on Friday 2 November with a one-off birthday special. Presented by Des O'Connor and Carol Vorderman, the programme features a host of birthday surprises including birthday wishes from celebrity fans including Terry Wogan, Sir Alex Ferguson, Sir Patrick Moore, Lord Richard Attenborough and some familiar faces from the nation's favourite soap operas. To mark this historic achievement, an exhibition match takes place between two of the very best and most memorable players from the programme's 25-year history. Chris Wills, a viewers' favourite, competes against 16-year-old Conor Travers, who became the series's youngest ever champion at just 14.

10:00pm THE BIG FAT ANNIVERSARY QUIZ

Has anyone seen any pictures of this from another angle, or even a video where the logo forms like the idents?

One to set the video for. The 'Big Fat Quiz of The Year' programmes have been entertaining the last few years

I loved the 2006 one - especially the 'Peep Scarf' bit. It's all on Youtube. Definately worth watching. Noel Fielding and Russell Brand are so funny! I will be setting my video (yes, that's right, one with an actual tape).

Have we got C4 to blame then for Frank Skinner - he's not a name I'd associate with the channel.

I assume Jonathan Ross wasn't available! Wink

I got to Ricky Gervais and gave up!

It's no secret here I'm a fan of C4 - but without Channel 4 there would probably have been no Ricky Gervais, and that might just have been a sacrifice worth making! Smile

Ricky Gervais ain't that bad, saw him Live in March doing his Fame tour, and he was far funnier as a stand-up, anyway that's not the point.

If it wasn't for The 11 O'Clock Show then we wouldn't have Ricky Gervais nor would we have Sascha Baron Cohen/Ali G/Borat really, and look how much both people have had influence in Comedy and Movies in the last five years or so.
