God, Friends. Ages since any of the C4 family have shown that! Wink

Possibly replaced due to a rights conflict with whoever currently broadcasts The Golden Girls?

Has More4's announcer been taking tips from the E4 team...? Wink

"We swore it would never happen but it's been on every other channel so it was only a matter of time before we'd show it."

Just to answer a few questions asked earlier in the thread:

The Countdown 'bong' at the end of the 30-second countdown wasn't introduced until quite a few years into the show. When it was introduced, the countdown was nearer to 31 seconds so they always cut back to Richard as the 'bong' sounded.

Quite a few variations of the 'counting down' music have been used - there was an even plainer version than the one heard in episode 1 that was occasionally used in the early episodes.

The name 'Countdown Conundrum' was around in the early days, so I guess it was introduced at some point during that first series.

In the first series, the score for getting a 9-letter word was 10 points, making a maximum possible winning score 90. I think it was at the start of series 2 when this score was changed to 18 points.

As for Brookie, that was one of the longest ever closing sequences and that final part of the theme (heard after where we'd expect the natural end to be) was only played about a half a dozen times.

The 'cyan on blue' credits lasted for about a year when a white transparent font was introduced being played over a long shot of the Close. This lasted until the early 90s I believe. The final endboard always remained 'cyan on blue' until 1999 when the credit sequences were totally changed and the 'Next Time on Brookside' ECP was introduced.

Interesting how there were no EOP/BOP slides at the ad-break and instead we saw the 'continuing action'. I think this style was very quickly changed to the standard EOP/BOP captions showing a shot of the Close. I quite liked the style they used in episode one though - the closest we really get here to live RPGs (return to programme graphics) which are commonplace elsewhere in the world.

I've yet to see the 'Channel 4 at 25' programme but I'm really looking forward to it!

Now can you imagine the discussions on here if TV Forum was around or as popular at the time? Wink

EDIT: Didn't know but Davina McCall did voice dubbing on this!

Didn't (the original) Crossroads often used to do that?

Also Corrie's been using live action into and out of breaks recently - sometimes to better or worse effect.

The episode in which Ashley was trying to restrain a struggling Casey from jumping off her balcony did hold rather too long on the shot going into the break, giving the impression he was trying to dry-hump her.

The final moment of Porterhouse Blue on More4 this evening was well and truly ruined by a badly-cued announcement. Rather than being played over the credits, it went out over the last words of the final line.

A reminder there's another chance to see the C4 at 25 documentary on More4 tonight from 9.30pm.

i'm really pissed that this is not being shown on the terrestrial channel, it's like celebrating BBC2's birthday on Radio 5, where is the logic in that?

it also show no respect to loyal views like myself who don't happen to pay up for more4 Mad

More4 is on Freeview. You don't need to pay for it. As a loyal viewer, you should know that.

I agree it should be on C4 - but I doubt we'd be getting as much if it was to be honest - though of course they could still run stuff across More4, E4 and Film4.

I'm surprised actually they haven't done a season of films from "Film4" on Film4.
