Think they are overdoing the ident now, need to show some of the other versions of it, although I guess they've only remade the one.

never Razz I'd just like to see some of the other form ups again, although of course I'm very happy that we've even got to see this one and so far I think they are doing a great job of showing off the first 25 years of C4

Does anyone care about the launch of Virgin 1? NO! Because it is 1982 and the first 'edition' of Countdown is on to relaunch Channel 4!

It was great although the music is a bit unusual, somehow being 'lighter'. The bong was non-existant. I never knew they changed the theme tune at all. The title sequence is so cheap.

Brookside was fantastic, it is even better than EastEnders. Why? because it was realistic, no sly humour like coronation street and that rubbish. I cryed when I heard that theme tune for the first time in 15 years! Really nolstalgic.

Well done for removing the DOG. However, very insensitive choice of sponsor in Digital UK - just as we celebrate when C4 was good, there is this blunt reminder of how TV is about to get worse.

I'm sorry? Digital TV is worse than terrestrial? I appreciate that you have very old fasioned views, but that is ridiculous.

By terrestrial, you mean analogue, right? Digital TV is indeed worse than analogue - all that horrid blockiness that comes from pictures being compressed to buggery.

Could they move any slower do you think? It's like going from one extreme to the other.

Credits already ran rediculously "slow" up until the 90s - but then the Falklands War put an end to them. No seriously, the amount of constant news updates meant programmes shortened their end credits so they would keep the viewers for the news update and still get the ads in as well.

The Falklands war actually happened before C4 launched (April to June 82) !

I didn't mind the slow speed of the credits, you could actually read them properly, and absorb the information, something you're not permitted to do today. Someone transport me back to 1982, or better still 1973 please !

Apologies - I of course meant the Gulf War! What's more amusing is that I was thinking the Falklands war but knew it wasn't that, knew it was the Gulf conflict but still wrote Falklands. My head hurts.

It's not the technology I have the issue with - it's putting BBC1, BBC2, ITV1, C4 and C5 on a level playing field commercially and technologically with channels such as Sky One and its ilk. The results are all too predictable - less PSB, less quality, more screen junk.

I injected the 'bong' myself, sounds so wrong without it .

I was particularly impressed with the unpainted plywood set, that CESIL and the letters were contained within. One thing hasn't changed in 25 years, most of the contestants still have zero personality.

It was interesting seeing the first ever edition of Countdown and it proves how things have changed. It was very posh the first edition, now Carol Vorderman just does it like it's second nature to her.
