It's only one symbol though... that's what's good about the branding. There may have been 4 different executions of it, but the symbol is still the same today as it always has been.
ITV take note...

Have to say, it is really surprising, looking back, that 4 has only had four real identity's over the past 25 years. Says something about good branding. It's a timeless symbol, long may it remain.

I echo your sentiments, Lambie-Nairn must be proud right now to see his logo design still being used today. It's genius how he designed the logo. The outer rims can be modified and adapted to any package. ITV should take note. I can't believe it's only 4 packages, they never really felt old and worn out.

Brilliant stuff - love the morphing idents at the beginning and the selection of original C4 idents at the end of part one - plus having all the trailers was an absoulte treat, even if the mocked version of the ident isn't perfect (or in fact, is too perfect - that's the problem!)
I think it's getting shown on C4 nearer the date. I'm basing that on what Carol Vorderman said about hoping she remains with "Countdown" until Friday, which kind of suggests the programme is intend to run in the week before November 2nd.
A great documentary - but they could have easily filled another couple of hours. The Big Breakfast got the briefest of mentions, US imports were only listed at the end while they didn't even touch on shows like Hollyoaks, The Crystal Maze, T4, Phoenix Nights etc.

It's nice to see that More4 are showing the first episode of Countdown with no DOG, hopefully this will stay the same throughout tonights programmes.

TV was a lot slower in days gone by, also remember that they had to explain the rules a lot because no-one knew how the game worked.
Nice to hear the references to CECIL... they should have kept that reference in throughout the years

My it's rather amazing to see how Countdown was, it seems rather slow in comparison to Countdown of 2007, seeing this episode so far I'm surprised it lasted the series rather than 25 years!
