The 9pm Friday slot is an interesting choice. Considering that it is Gogglebox in that slot most of the year, if it is anything like Russell T Davies' previous shows, especially Queer As Folk, it might be a bit of a surprise to the regular viewer sitting down with a biscuit for a sedate Friday evening!

Your answer to that is no.
Wonder if there is anything special lined up for the junction into Countdown?
Your answer to that is no.

Interestingly yesterday's episode ended with "we'll be back in time at 88 mph tomorrow, you can count on us".
So I wonder if something was originally planned.

That's a good question, and a desperate shame the man himself is no longer around to respond to it.
You'd think at the very basic level he would have been had some creative input with Channel 4's own presentation graphic designers on how to grow the '4 brand' beyond a load of flying blocks before the programmes for the first few years whilst the station 'bedded in' with the viewing landscape.
You'd think if the in house producers wanted to change the colours of the blocks, or go with something so abstract you can't work out what is going on - he would have had the absoloute veto.

Did Martin Lambie-Nairn design the stings (being used as idents today) as well?
I do think bringing the colour back would be a great starting point for the next revamp. Not many, if any, multicoloured logos around today.

Just catching up with all of these. It’s so well done. The attention to detail is great, with the promo actually looking and feeling authentically 80s - it’s often easy to overdo the fake VHS and audio effects, and this one looks genuinely 1980s.
Very impressed, and it’s doing the job in ramping up excitement for the show tonight. As a Russell T. Davies fan I was already looking forward to it, now today’s presentation is making it feel like more of an “event” than I anticipated.

Channel 4 had Deadwater Fell last January which was quite successful although that did have David Tennant in it. I’m not expecting It’s A Sin anywhere near as well.

Just a thought about the junction into Channel 4 News at 7pm, later (I posted this at 3.49pm for those reading back later).
We know we are going to get the clock - but for a true recreation annoucement - it really should be..
"Starting now over on ITV - Emmerdale. Now at 7 o'clock time to cross to ITN for the Channel Four News"
But i doubt it will go like that.
