Apparently the set will be 're-designed' for the special. I'm guessing they're just going to colour everything yellow and brown.

This very small image suggest that any re-design is going to be very minimal.

Channel 4's schedule shows that 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown and Alan Carr: Chatty Man are also both 80s specials. I wonder if this was an after thought. Based on the publicity shot on Channel 4's website 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown features neither an 80s style set nor Carol Vorderman. Alan Carr: Chatty Man has Jessie J (born 1988) as the headline guest.

That was always the plan, as described in the press release:

Oh well, no flying blocks.

No blocks ident is just poor. The continuity announcer's script didn't really work with a modern ident.

It's almost like the theme is just an excuse to get people to watch a pilot of 15to1. Odd that the announcement was clearly done in an 80s style but with the current pres.

Love the 15 to 1 titles - surely too much effort for just a one off.

I know it's not going to be played straight and neither would I want it to be. But this 15-1 seems like it's been made people who'd never seen the original and had simply read a description of the format.

Quite like the set though, even if the podiums are a little awkward.

Missed the start though so can't comment on the titles.

The intro and the titles were both excellent - I'm glad they based the theme tune on the original.

The first ever Celebrity Edition back in 1990 wasn't played completely straight - for example, no-one could be eliminated in the first round.

You'd have thought they'd have used the original sound effects, if only for this special.

I'm really liking this version of Fifteen To One, if it was brought back in the afternoon then they'd need a more serious host, but as a light entertainment comedy programme then I think Adam Hills is good.

Liked the cameo by Madge from Neighbours at the start. Good upbeat version of the theme too.

I'm a bit disappointed that there's no multi coloured block ident.

I disagree I don't think it would work without that light relief these days, especially as it would probably fill an hour slot.
