They seem to still be keeping it tightly under wraps, not sure why, no one watches it. I've got a feeling it might be Mushy from Educating Yorkshire as he did a few specially shot bits for the promo for the Xmas special though they seemed a little short perhaps suggesting he was there to shoot something longer (or alternatively there wasn't enough usable material). Alternatively I wonder if it might be some of the people from those short Born Risky IVCs that have been on recently.

Just noticed that not only is The Snowman on Channel 4 on the earliest day I can ever remember for it, but - for possibly the first time in over a decade - it's in original 4:3 rather than the 16:9 crop job they normally show.
I missed the beginning, was it the original David Bowie intro? Possibly so if it's in 4:3, I heard his voice over the opening few scenes.

Just rewound, it is indeed the David Bowie intro this time, possibly because Mel Smith voiced the Father Christmas introduction.
It's always annoyed me because I personally think the original introduction by Raymond Briggs is the best, and most personal, after watching it on 'The Snowman' CD-ROM for many years. Nice to see it in 4:3 though. It's also on E4 this year on Christmas Day, I think.
iTunes have a high definition, albeit cropped, version which looks great, don't know which intro it has though as I only looked at the 30 second preview. In a perfect world Channel 4 would show the uncropped HD transfer with the original introduction.

Yes, Mushy is the only choice I could think of, but odd it's not been announced - they've have plugged that after Educating Yorkshire you'd have thought.

4Seven are showing it about 5pm on Christmas Day aswell, considering at one point a few years they only showed it once on Christmas Eve lunchtime it's nice to see it on more often around the holiday period.
I was pleasantly surprised to see the David Bowie intro, although you could see the wear and tear of the film/video it was nice to see it in it's old format for a change.
