I don't know if its just me but I still have the LIVE tag from Million Pound Drop on 4+1 this morning.
That would have been for T4 on the Beach - they're using the same tag as MPD for some reason.
The live tag was on T4 on the Beach by mistake, instead of the T4 DOG (the following programme initially had the live tag, and it then disappeared to leave a DOG-less screen).
I presume the idea is for channel 4 to add it rather than endemol so that it doesn't show on +1 or on demand.
Well, that didn't work then because it appeared on Channel 4+1 too. It did look like Channel 4 were adding it though as it sometimes leaked on to the sponsor credit which I assume was being played out by Channel 4.
What was all that noise from the audience on Saturdays show? There seemed to be someone screaming or generally making noise at various points in the programme. It sounded like a child or a baby.
The final question of the programme was...
What was the most watched TV show on Christmas Day 2011, according to official audience figures?
The options were Doctor Who, Absolutely Fabulous, Queen's Speech or EastEnders. The contestants put most of their money (£600,000) on Queen's Speech and lost it because the correct answer was EastEnders.
It was stated on the programme that Queen's Speech had 8.2 million viewers and EastEnders had 10.2 million. I assume these are Barb figures being quoted but since the question didn't state "in the UK" surely the correct answer should have been Queen's Speech. This is assuming it was viewed by at least 2 million viewers in other parts of the common wealth and indeed the rest of the world on Christmas Day 2011, you could even go as far as count YouTube viewers since the question doesn't state that it only includes viewers watching on a television set.
The question was vague and although the contestants seemed to assume it only referred to UK viewers, I think that question should be declared void at the start of the next episode. The question would have been perfectly clear if they just said "according to Barb figures" rather than "according to official audience figures" which is meaningless.
Saying that, I am not a fan of the "According to..." style questions. It just seems like lazy research.
Secret Fortune on BBC One just now had this very same question and their correct answer was Downton Abbey too,

The next ep of MPD did acknowledge that one of their questions wasn't asked fairly and was discounted. Wasn't paying attention properly so I'm not sure if they were talking about the christmas day question but I presume they were.

Here is the question as read by the dreadful Nick Knowles. They might have verbally qualified the question on this programme but I can't stand to watch it to check. I did hear him say 'average figures' before I couldn't watch any more Deal or No Deal with questions added and fun removed.

A great compilation of idents and stings from the early years of C4 through to 2002, many of which I've never seen before online and including a replacement logo which thankfully never made it to air.
Interesting compilation, shows how far Channel 4's branding has come. Some of the short idents and stings (80's early/mid 90's) were a bit of a mess though. I agree about the replacement logo, looks like something a network affiliate station in America would use.
This is split about 65/35 - between those I remember or had seen, to those I hadn't. When you bear in mind it's just a selection - albeit a proper hefty one - it gives a real sense as to the actual range of various campaigns. Any views this gets are good, esp if it helps better demonstrate how mid-90s Channel 4 was certainly not in any pres lull, if a little overlooked. The 'Mirrored Face' stings at around the 18:30 mark always creeped me out, just a bit...
Only footnotes: starting from 1992, the logo here is clearly an overlay unaligned and faded out (on-air it always fitted entirely in the 'letterbox bars' area, no fade), and 1996 Generics clips always criminally short as ever, but alas... And that hardly detracts from the reel.
There was a great Jack Dee & Jeremy Hardy 'toilet' sting from the 1995 lot (all of which doubled as symbol) that made me LOL twice when I first saw it, but I don't see it here - ah well!
The tapping on the screen ones are probably my favourite of the lot, the selection in that compilation is a good snapshot of Channel 4 at that time too.. a bit of a golden era for them I think.
The replacement design is awful but in a way it does pre-empt the current concept of an object moving around and only resembling a 4 from a certain angle
I can't find it now, but there was a tree in one of the seasonal promos which looked a lot like the tree which later featured in The Power Station's ident. Is it actually the same prop/setup, or just an influence?
The circles seem to have got better with age; pity the Dougal one was missed off the compilation.
The first 1999 set from Spin, did this go out with that music? I can only remember that music (quite a catchy piece!) from the schools countdown.
The original set of stripes idents only lasted around nine months - from Easter until the end of the year IIRC. A bit too short lived IMO, though no real complaints about any era of the stripes look - though the last set were a bit hit or miss.
This video also highlights seasonal presentation, something which has now pretty much vanished completely from our screens. It is now virtually unheard of to have branding outside of the standard idents and promos used for promotion, especially generic seasonal branding rather than something programme specific.
