What's up with C4HD tonight?

Caught 'Relocation Relocation' earlier & thought 'There's something missing?'

It dawned on me that there was no commentary / voiceover from Phil & Kirstie on C4HD but there was on normal C4!

This is an advertisement break...

This is one of the breaks from Channel 4's Comedy Gala. It's good to see them doing something different again. Pity it wasn't that funny. It's kind of like Jasper Carrot used to do as part of his BBC show.

I liked that. But as you say very reminiscent of Canned Carrott.

I'd forgotten I had posted that. On that subject though, did anyone see how they handled repeats? The presenter (can't remember who) told us to watch the next break as Jimmy Carr would be in the adverts. What happened on the E4 repeats? I also wonder if these adverts were included in the DVD release.

According to Play.com, the Jimmy Carr ad break is included as a 'special feature.'

Because I'm not living in the UK, I had to search for all the "original" adverts on YouTube. Indeed, those sketches above were very funny.

Arrow Go Compare - *GRAB!* The Gio's YouTube channel also did put a Jimmy Carr version, with out that "This is an advertisement break" caption.
Arrow Churchill - Now I could know more of what did they says. I want to keep that bulldog if I have courage...
Arrow Specsavers - Itself being a parody of the Lynx/Axe effect. By the way, how poor is that guy...
Arrow PokerStars.com - "Snap!" Also, notice the accent difference. (So, is there a record of the real British version you have?)
Arrow LowLow - At least, the original is not that "cruel" than what Jimmy did. (I want to eat that tasty cheese toast... I should find a recipe on that.)
Arrow Guinness: Bring it to life (90 sec, 60 sec) - Built (and destroy) a forest in a short time. (Is there a particular "forest building" version from Guinness?)

Channel 4 start their new gameshow this evening, 'The Million Pound Drop Live' is presented by Davina McCall. I am quite looking forward to this actually, it is on every day this week and is apparently live.

This programme will also contain an advert for Marie Stopes abortion services. It will be interesting to see how this is handled by Channel 4. From what I have seen, this looks to be quite a long advert so will probably take up the whole first break (approx 22:10). Will Channel 4 introduce the break with an ident (as they have done before) and warn viewers of the content? How do you go from a gameshow to an abortion advert back to a gameshow without it jarring? Maybe a carefully chosen trailer on either side of the advert?

I don't think it's already been mentioned, but no harm it this being repeated I guess.

Lambie Nairn have uploaded several blocks idents onto their YouTube channel, along with official titles for each one.

It's a 30 second advert: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8693732.stm

I notice that only one has the original music. Shame they're missing the best known one - the one that's the reverse of 'Explosion'

Interesting moment on Deal or no Deal today. The contestant didn't put their box in quite the right place on the table and then said 'Good morning, Noel' so Noel Edmonds had to remind her it was the middle of the afternoon and she had to do it again. I just thought it was interesting that they left it in the final programme.

The ad break during Come Dine with Me (World Cup Special) started off with the CA saying "Stay tuned for a very special break, brought to you by the search engine bing.com" over a graphic showing bing.com next to a football and someone typing 'Decision Engine'. This was followed by a normal bing.com advert. After that, another shot of bing.com with someone typing in 'Probably the Best Team Talk' followed by a World Cup themed Carlsburg advert with a similar tag line. 'Work, Rest, Play Football' was followed by a World Cup themed Mars advert, 'El Tel Dream' lead to a World Cup themed The Sun advert. 'Feeling Lucky about England?' linked to a World Cup themed Labbrokes advert. The last advert of the break was another one for bing.com and was preceded by someone typing 'Decision Engine' again. Just before going back to a promo, we saw a final look at bing.com with someone typing 'C'mon England'.

Once again, Channel 4 give us a slightly interesting ad break. Like similar stunts in the past, this was introduced by the CA, I thought this was a bit dodgy this time as he was speaking over an image of the product and mentioned the product name. In the past, they have always introduced the break over a ident or Channel 4 slide, haven't they?

Odd that Microsoft didn't actually make a World Cup advert for bing.com. I guess we just get re-edited US adverts though.

Was this break shown in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales (do Channel 4 have a Welsh advertising region now that Wales has gone Digital?)
