Would love to see some of this Channel 4 on Paramount Comedy presentation. I'm guessing it's from around the same time they had "CBBC on Nick" - how the BBC were allowed to do that I don't know!!

From what I remember it wasn't on the same scale as CBBC on Nick, it was more they stuck a Channel 4 logo on the Paramount idents, I remember this being before the 1999 relaunch.

Again how did they get away with CBBC on Nick? Although there were no commericals, they used everything else the same, even the presenters.

There's an MHEG caption appearing on Channel 4 on Freeview advertising the new 4seven service linking to tvretune.co.uk.

Is that caption appearing in the Tyne Tees or Ulster regions ? Because 4Seven is not available in those two regions until they DSO

There's an old thread about CBBC on Nick - http://www.tvforum.co.uk/tvhome/bbc-nick-31591/

It does seem odd the BBC were allowed to do that.

Does seem strange now, although back then I get the feeling BBC Worldwide were a bit less cautious about where they put the BBC brand. Around the same period, what eventually became the UKTV channels were being trailed in the press as BBC Arena, BBC Style etc. (I think UK Play was originally "1 FM TV" or something), until concerns were raised that having BBC-branded channels carrying advertising would make many more people question the licence fee.

Two questions about the 'Summer Daze with BlackBerry' show - firstly, why are they using the C4 promo style even though it's a T4 show? And also, are they allowed to use that kind of brand promotion for BlackBerry?

It'll be a completely ad-funded show just like things like Orange Playlist and numerous other T4 and 4Music shows in the past.

Yes. Loads of programmes have used the sponsor's name in the title.

Thanks for clearing that up. Smile

It's working title was 'BBC One TV' oddly enough.... at the time the logo for Radio 1 was a 'one' and what is now called BBC One was a '1' ! Confused

Were there ever seen in 1996?

Yes, they would have been, from the beginning of the rebrand.

There was that Frasier trail from early 1999, with David Macleod playing the role and shown in a similar-ish way as the 1996 IVC was, with him on the mic - whether that means the IVC was still around at that time in 1999, or it was just an idea they decided would work for the trail, I can't be sure.

I also have a memory of the IVC shown without the circled logo in the corner, but again, can't say that with 100% certainty I'm afraid.

There is no live DOG on Million Pound Drop Live this evening. At least not on the first part anyway, I checked Channel 4 and Channel 4 HD.

It won't be a problem soon anyway. I understand the next series will all be recorded anyway which will take away one of the things that makes the programme interesting. Shame. I doubt it will last much longer after that. The only recorded episode up until now was the Channel 4 mash-up one where Davina McCall played the game with her father.

It's been milked to death IMO. Can you believe it only started two years ago?
