That is odd as usually they're very good at specifying the questions to make sure there's no ambiguity (even though sometimes the contestants misunderstand them through their own stupidity).
I think the fact that it's UK viewers goes without saying, although it should have been said in the question. Counting those abroad and on youtube is a bit pedantic. However I'm pedantic enough to point out that 'The Queens Speech' isn't broadcast on Christmas Day
It's not lazy research, it's just a qualifier like a footnote in a book or a citation on Wikipedia. When it's based around an opinion poll there has to be some context
It was stated on the programme that Queen's Speech had 8.2 million viewers and EastEnders had 10.2 million. I assume these are Barb figures being quoted but since the question didn't state "in the UK" surely the correct answer should have been Queen's Speech. This is assuming it was viewed by at least 2 million viewers in other parts of the common wealth and indeed the rest of the world on Christmas Day 2011, you could even go as far as count YouTube viewers since the question doesn't state that it only includes viewers watching on a television set.

Saying that, I am not a fan of the "According to..." style questions. It just seems like lazy research.

The final question of the programme was...
What was the most watched TV show on Christmas Day 2011, according to official audience figures?
The options were Doctor Who, Absolutely Fabulous, Queen's Speech or EastEnders. The contestants put most of their money (£600,000) on Queen's Speech and lost it because the correct answer was EastEnders.

And according to official figures Downton Abbey was the most watched programme of the day anyway.

They're the overnight figures. He's talking about the official BARB ratings released several weeks later.

I was playing online last night and I too was thrown by that question, as if it counted international figures I'm sure the Queen's speech would be the highest rated, and Doctor Who would have rated higher with the US showing. There is also the query if it counted timeshift viewings or not.
The 'Live' graphic was definitely overlayed by C4 rather than Endemol as it was placed differently on C4HD. It's quite possible changes will be made to C4+1's playout chain to ensure it records without the Live graphic, or that they've done it for the purposes of 4oD/4seven recording.

I assume the figures released weeks later includes people watching recordings up to X days after Christmas day, the question on Million Pound Drop was only about people watching on Christmas Day so the overnight figures are probably the best ones to go with. Not perfect though. I still think it was a bad question that should never have been included.
Was Doctor Who shown on Christmas Day in the US? If not, it wouldn't have counted for the purpose of this question.
I'm surprised no one else has picked up on the audience noise on last nights programme. I'm surprised the programme itself didn't mention it.

Yes Doctor Who was shown on the day on BBC America.
Personally I didn't notice the audience noise last night, apart from the odd bit of laughter.

I kept thinking it was someone shouting outside, I had to pause and mute the telly a few times before I realised it was someone in the studio

I obviously wasn't the only one who thought this because that's exactly what the Million Pound Drop has just done. I'm not sure if the contestants benefited from this or if they would have been better off if the show had let the invalid question stand.
No noisy audience so far this week. The lights went out very briefly at the start of the first question.

I think that question should be declared void at the start of the next episode.

I couldn't really find anywhere else to put this, but whilst having a flick through Freeview this morning and at 8.00am there was a BSL Zone programme about swimming on Film4, which was listed on the guide, yet on Film4 on Virgin Media it wasn't on the EPG at all, I've never known this happen before.

Can anyone remember the use of IN-Vision CA used by the station during the mid 1990s, yes you did read correct Mid 1990s.
