I have to say I do like the 2D version of the C4 logo in this Sunday Brunch ad (on the now un-suspended YouTube channel)

Kind of makes me wish they'd return to using the 2D logo in creative ways like this.

More4+2 to launch in April as a placeholder for 4seven.

I hope this isn't going to start a trend for +2 channels.

Doubt it - there's been a few +2 channels floating around for a couple of years now, as well as +1.5 too... None of them prompted a mass takeup.

The T4 on E4 DOG is a bit odd - the standard T4 logo squeezed into the outline of the standard E4 logo.

It's a bit of a kludge, that's for sure...

So... The new T4 Watch show is in HD, but the studio links shot in the same studio aren't. A bit odd.

It looks interesting. But works better than the 4hd or +1 logos on screen along with the t4 one.

As for the schedules with big bang followed by the Simpsons on 4, it's now become a very t4 schedule that will surely compete with T4 on E4 I would have thought.

I can see the idea for T4 Watch, putting interviews & film reviews together, but maybe it would work better to differentiate the look. For example links from a simple
Set, office, street, coffee shop, or horseferry road, instead of it just being extended T4 studio segments.

During Channel 4 Racing earlier today, William Hill had an advert that was a couple of minutes long and done in a style very similar to Channel 4 Racing itself. It was branded as 'Mark your Card' and had brief opening and closing titles. The presenter (captioned as Kate Miller) welcomed as to William Hill's Mark your Card from Doncaster. She then did what seemed like a very rehearsed interview with jockey Paul Mulrennan. This was followed by a piece to camera where spoke about the latest odds that William Hill were offering. She did actually mention the odds too, it wasn't just done with graphics.

Quite a clever idea. I assume the introduction and interview were done earlier today but the latest odds must have been done within the past hour. A graphic at the bottom of the screen told us the odds were accurate as of 2:20pm (the advert was shown just after 14:30).

The picture quality was quite poor when compared with Channel 4's HD pictures apart from when they showed full screen graphics. I assume they didn't have the bandwidth/time to send HD or even SD quality pictures back from Doncaster. Does anyone know or want to guess how this advert was done?

Nice to see Channel 4 and Channel 4 Racing making the ad breaks more interesting. They also did the Betfair split screen advert which I mentioned earlier in thread too.

I expect this advert will be blocked out on Channel 4+1.

EDIT : I forgot to mention the Ladbrokes advert that stars John McCririck.

If you have no interest in racing but like interesting adverts, I recommend you watching Channel 4 Racing.

Probably easiest to get it played out directly from the trucks in Donny. The low quality of the advert could well be an indication of the quality of equipment used to produce the advert on site.

Was it shown with the standard C4 stings at the beginning and end? Was there a cue dot shown? The racing sponsor packages are played out locally, so if the stings were missing, that could be an indication that the whole break was played out as an item from the OB rather than as a standard ad break from London. That said, it wouldn't be much hassle (provided it was organised in advance) to play the relevant stings out from the OB either... Lack of cue dot would be a giveaway though.

They need to be careful though about the distinction between advertising, sponsorship and the programme itself. I caught a bit earlier and when the cut to a break with no sting - but keep the sponsor bumper it isn't immediate obvious the programme is ending. Personally though for sports programmes I'm all in favour of a quick cutaway and if necessary just putting the sponsor logo over the pre/post break scene.

Watching though just 10 minutes of C4 Racing just highlights how stupid the Gambling Commission are to investigate Deal or No Deal.

Another thought on the low quality... There used to be lots of composite ties from the racecourse media centre to the OB compound (which has moved since I was last there, but are likely to have been reinstated), so one of those could have been used by William Hill to either the trucks for playout or directly to BT to feed down to London.

Everything pointed to it being shown as a standard advert, the Channel 4 Racing sponsorship credit played, a Channel 4 break bumper played and then the William Hill advert played. I think there was then another Channel 4 break bumper before a Channel 4 trailer, the sponsorship credit and then back to Channel 4 Racing.

I don't think Channel 4 Racing use cue dots, do they? I just checked, admittedly on a recording from Channel 4+1 rather than Channel 4 itself, and I didn't see any before this break or any breaks.

Talking of Channel 4+1, the William Hill advert was shown there an hour later rather then being blocked out. I suppose the 'odds correct as at xx:xx' caption rather than the more usual 'odds correct as of xx seconds ago' caption means that there wasn't a problem showing it an hour later too.

I also noticed that the Betfair split screen advert was live subtitled today, so even though the programme and advert were kept separate enough to satisfy Ofcom (I assume Channel 4 checked this first) the subtitles were not so obviously separate. The first time I saw the Betfair advert, it was not subtitled at all. I assumed that Channel 4 had a policy on this rather then it just being left to whether the on duty subtitler could be bothered or not.

EDIT : Seems that Kate Miller isn't actually a presenter, she is someone who works for William Hill...
