E4 HD are particularly bad at playing things with a 5.1 mix properly. I've seen several episodes of Big Bang without any dialogue, or with ambient rear sound blaring, or with some or all channels sound crackling, or some fun combination of all.

T4 seems a pointless brand now anyway, I'm surprised it's still going. Aren't E4 and T4 aimed at exactly the same people?

T4 is rubbish. The programmes are fine but the presentation in between is just awful.

Sounds like someone misses Vernon Kay.

Is anybody else experiencing a very jerky picture on Channel 4HD?
SD seems to be ok, as do all other HD channels. The problem was applied to the adverts & trailers also.

The current programme is deal or no deal being upscaled.

I wanted to put this in the 'Brookside Close today' thread but it's been archived after a whopping six months.

Anyway, the close made a TV appearance last night on Melvyn Bragg's programme about class. Here's the clip:

What receiver are you using ? Some of the cheap Vestel (aka Bush, Alba, Grundig, Goodmans) Freesat boxes do have that problem with C4 HD, it's because they're not fully compatible with DVB-S2 broadcasts, though the parameters the BBC use for BBC 1 HD, and BBC HD don't appear to cause the same effect.

Sky HD, Pace box. Not a box problem (as far as I'm aware) as I mentioned, it was perfectly fine for all other HD Channels transmitting HD content & up scaling SD. And it Hasn't happened since.

I get the same occasionally with random HD channels on Sky. Sometimes the only way to clear the problem is turning the box off and on.

Thank you for the advice. I'll give it a try if it happens again.

Not sure if this should be in here, or the sport thread. But, the Racing Post weekend edition (paper, as the story isn't online) claims that Channel 4 is trying to become the sole terrestrial broadcaster of horse racing in this country from 2013, and is trying to snatch the BBC's remaining racing events (which total just 13 days a year now). According to the article, and a thread on DS, the C4 bid is more than the BBC bid.

Just have to wonder if perhaps this could be the end of racing on the BBC.
