This 8 Out Of 10 Cats Countdown episode ... anyone know if they used Countdown's regular studio in Manchester,
or if the Countdown set was taken to the studio at BBC TV Centre in London where 8 Out Of 10 Cats is made?

28th November in Manchester according to this...

Surprised to see that C4 have accepted an ad from Channel 5 for Big Brother.

Why? I'm sure Channel 5 paid the going rate. What is more surprising is that there hasn't been any special ad breaks or 'mash up' adverts this evening. Something like a meerkat appearing in an advert for Go Compare, a starving child appearing in an advert for McDonald's and/or Ronald McDonald appearing in an Oxfam advert asking or just £5 a month.

At the end of The Channel 4 Mash Up we just got a blank, black screen for a couple of seconds. The CA then apologised for the technical problem and put up a 'Programmes continue shortly' caption and did a bit of ad-libbing, The Bank Job then started. There were no adverts, although I imagine that was planned.

Ooops! Channel 4 has crashed after the Mash Up.

EDIT: And there back....

I'm pretty sure they're not allowed to refuse an advert

Bit like what someone said about C4 racing showing a c4 racing continues shortly with ads above/left.

Something different for uktv keeps us interested a bit more. Seen it happen with German tv when watching f1 abroad

That was always the issue with Formula 1 on ITV, they wanted to run the coverage alongside the adverts but weren't allowed

The Simpsons was introduced in quite a normal way this evening, although they still didn't mention 'The Simpsons' by name.

"Divine intervention from Richard Gere when Homer burns down the church"
and
"...but first, Lisa the Buddhist. You've got to have faith"

I can't wait to hear what is said tomorrow.

The rules are, providing the advert doesn't encourage viewers to 'turn over now' or mention the time that a programme starts, they have to accept the ad at the standard rate.

Just realised that I missed the word 'not' from that post.

They did that the other day during a double bill, and then called it The Stetsons before the second episode. If this is an in-joke, it's starting to get a bit excessive considering we've had no explanation.

Today wasn't a double bill. I should have been clearer, the first quote was said over the closing credits on whatever preceded The Simpsons and the second quote was over the ident just before.

I'm not sure whether this has been mentioned, or is quite old, but today throughout drive time on Capital FM (South Yorkshire), they aired a Channel 4 advert using the pylons ident backing music & an announcer running down tonight's menu. Interesting idea if it is new.
